The peckham branch had a load of curry combs and hoof polish left unsold after the last horse specialI am a veg but refuse to get involved in the self rightous bickering that invariably ensues with both equally antagonistic trolltastic sides of the discussion. bludz. innit. *Bob*
The burger thing?Really, if I was buying eight 'beef' burgers for less than a pound, I'd be thankful just not to find half a beak and possibly a bit of condom in one of them. Jeremy
Given some of the awful practices that go on in the industry, it doesn't really surprise me that a horse or two found their way into the grinder. It certainly doesn't shock me as much as the rotten chickens being bleached, or the rare breed pigs that were butchered alive by thieves.Actually, I'd have no problem eating horse in theory. In fact if Sainos started selling horse burgers, I'd probably buy some just to try. RosieH
These are most excellent, and I am grateful to you all, though a bit miffed at the lack of "I told you so"s.The piggy bits seem to have been swept under the carpet rather. Otta
Excellent work with the title! Although I was pleased to see Lidl wasn't actually involved (unless I've missed something).Don't really see what all the fuss is about.I remember when I was in Australia, foolishly saying to my mate "what the f**ks a roo sausage?"He looked at me (quite understandably) like I was a moron. Then it dawned on me, and I felt reluctant to buy them.Later that day after a couple of beers by the pool, I barely noticed the difference at the barbie. maxxi
A lot of fuss considering it's a commonly eaten meat - but here I guess you can lead a horse to slaughter but you can't make it beef. StraferJack
It's not the fact that its horse meatPeople eat fish. They wouldn't necessarily want it in a beef burger If the package said horse-cow combo then fair enough. But it's buying 8 thingies for a quid for a random mechanically recovered meat combo that worries..
