Sephiroth
I AM commenting on what was said. I am also commenting on who said itI could Fisk the Liddle piece but really would you even care Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1497036 Share on other sites
Sephiroth
I will say a couple of things about the Liddle piece for now - if it was written by a Corbynist, or anyone vaguely left, it would be written off as "typically anti-American"it bangs on a bit about "unicorns" - rich coming from a BrexiteerAnd to even pretend that asking about skin colour is merely concern about "ginger hair" - y'all have basically lost your minds You quote O Neill and Liddle because you respect them. They write absolute garbage. We can dive into any article of your choice but you are the one who likes "them" not what they write. It is embarrassing. I dismissed nutters like keano and glen because they are obviously too far gone. For the longest time, too long, I paid you Cat, the respect of being more intelligent. Someone who felt they may have made the wrong bet and needed some way of climbing back. But at every turn you double down. The contrast with your "outward appearance " of objectivity is stark Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1497043 Share on other sites
TheCat
It's an intentionally OTT article...the brazzeness of it, is sort of the point. But thanks for your 'insight' that its anti-American.....It's amusing that you find me so puzzling, I'm flaterred...I really don't think about you at all. Sephiroth
"It's an intentionally OTT article...the brazzeness of it, is sort of the point. "and what IS that point? to what end? You've quoted it as .. something... but what? It makes a point? But not? Because it's intentionally OTT? I think Liddle actually believes this stuff - or thinks enough of his followers believe it to make little difference. So is it meaningful? Or meaningless?"But thanks for your 'insight' that its anti-American..... "I didn't say that. What I said was, if it was written by an leftie, it would be written-off as anti-AmericanYou see the difference?"It's amusing that you find me so puzzling, I'm flaterred...I really don't think about you at all."everyone reading this knows this isn't true Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1497056 Share on other sites
Spartacus
There have now been over 57thousand complaints to ofcom about Piers Morgan on good morning. Struth, that's shocking as I didn't think that many people actually watch the show 😱 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1498054 Share on other sites
binkylilyput
And yet Meghan herself is judged for asserting herself by making her own complaint!Spartacus Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> There have now been over 57thousand complaints to> ofcom about Piers Morgan on good morning. > > Struth, that's shocking as I didn't think that> many people actually watch the show 😱 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1498230 Share on other sites
TheCat
I used the term, 'through the looking glass' on another thread yesterday.....little did I know how approriate that was for the world we live in.....with the news (admittedly a few days old) that a UK-registered charity has awarded Harry and Meghan a ?500 prize for the 'enlightened' decision to only have two children for environmental reasons.Yes you read that the correct way around, a charity has given Meghan and Harry a Monetary award....Think of all those poor 'unenlightened' families around the globe that have more than 2 kids....the fools...if only they could be more like the SussexesOne has to chuckle.https://news.sky.com/story/population-matters-charity-give-harry-and-meghan-award-for-limiting-family-to-two-children-12352738 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1524262 Share on other sites
RoundTable
I have green eyes, my husband has blue eyes. My family all have brown eyes (except my father, who also has green eyes). When my son was born, I wondered which eye colour would eventually develop. It turns out he has green eyes. I thought maybe he would get brown eyes since genetically that is dominant, and there is some brown eye colour in my husband?s family too. Green is recessive, so I wasn?t expecting my green to be carried over. I don?t know if anybody from my family asked me about eye colour before, but having learnt about eye colour genetics at school (the classic blue/brown example) I?ve always found it quite interesting so I did ask myself what his eye colour would be.Now, my husband?s family have mainly blue eyes, but like I said above, there is some brown eyes. One of his nephews has brown eyes, but neither of his parents has brown eyes, so I find that interesting. Clearly there is a brown eye gene somewhere in the family (and it is not the milkman because the boy looks just like his father). My brother has 3 boys, all with very dark brown eyes, and any trace of my father?s green eyes has not been passed on that way. Although it will be interesting to see if any of their children come out with green eyes. My grandfather did have blue eyes, so who knows, maybe the blue will come out in their branch after the 4th generation or the brown will prevail?Have I made my point or shall I go on for a bit longer? Now, my cousins?.. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1524424 Share on other sites
Sephiroth
never mind the news being a few days old Cat, this thread has been dead for months. Is this news really that bothersome its' worth resurrecting with phrases like "through the looking glass"Given the state of virus, brexit, NI, transport shortages etc etc - why is this even registering? TheCat
This seems like an unnecessarily authoritarian post Seph.I didnt realise we had to limit our reading or dicussion to those 4 approved topics.Whats wrong with using that phrase if it appropriate? Are there any other turns of phrase I am prohibited from using?I thought it was an amusing/interesting/notable story, nothing more. Sometimes some light relief from debates about racism, brexit, Virus etc does us all some good. Sephiroth
authoritarian/prohibitive?where you getting that from? Post away! - I just thought it odd that an old thread was resurrected for such a slight reason and nothing about it struck me as "through the looking glass"that's all Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1524443 Share on other sites
Sephiroth
maybe I did sound like "more important things going on" - but that wasn't my intention at all. I guess I was reading it as if you were making it sound like a Big Issue when really you were just being more light heartedfair enough - my bad Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1524445 Share on other sites
TheCat
yes. sometimes even I need a rest from the heavy issues:)By the looking glass comment im specificly referring to a charity giving money to royalty, rather than the norm which should really see it being the other way around! Sephiroth
unless I'm reading it wrong it's a charity giving money to 2 very high profile people, for them to Gove to a charity of their choiceWhich helps them get headlines about their goalsSo harry/meghan aren't getting ?500 from a charity to stick under the cushions Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/279024-the-interview/page/6/#findComment-1524454 Share on other sites
