The Truth, Your Truth, My Truth, Meaghans Truth, Seabag's Mate's Crazy Nanobot Truth....

Of course how much weight is placed on different truths depends on how oppressed/virtuous/prejudiced the person who said it is percieved to be by the person making the judgment on level of truth. Using this method, we as social media users (and as the broader public) can apportion 'truth quotients' in the appropriate amount to suit our own views.

'

Unfort as you say Spartacus, no one gives a sh!t about 'the' truth anymore. The truth is so slow and boring to get to....instant indignation and kneejerk judgement provide much more instant gratification....

Oprahs certainly got a following in the US.

I understand her saying "your truth" in the sense in school you'll ask both sides in the playground fight for "their side of the story" - it's a bit of an Americanism possibly.

Possibly the real truth can't be found only many conflicting accounts.

Politicians have caught on that you can tell a lie and it firmly becomes embedded in their base, as well as going half way round the world, by the time it gets fact-checked, and as with Trump, the viewings of the lie far outnumber the fact checking...

very true....

...or it is?:)

Regardless of where you stand on the interview, the reality is that we have been given a gift with the new term 'my truth' which I hadn't come across before, and I, for one, can't wait to start using it:

'You say I'm late, but my truth is that your watch must be broken'

'You say I've cocked it up; my truth is that it is the best thing since sliced bread'

'The deal feel through, but my truth is that it is a roaring success'

'You say it is raining and that I should take an umbrella, but my truth is that I'm in the Caribbean and I'm going to go out in a bikini'

The possibilities are endless.

Of course with Beth Rigby back he won't get away with it so much - I have missed her.

@bethrigby "Labour source telling me they think Johnson misled the house because they say party didn?t vote against the NHS funding bill & it was nodded through....so expect Labour to raise a point of order at the end of #PMQs"

Misogyny

Racism

Insidious, pernicious, thinly veiled, institutional and systemic.

The message being when will women and people of colour learn to be pipe down and be quiet? They bring it on themselves.

So it continues...?..and it saddens me that much of this thread stinks of it.

Exactly. It?s tiresome and seems like a losing battle. For my own sanity I have to avoid getting involved in things like this as I?m constantly dismissed.

Are you implying that uncle is Piers

Wow wouldn't that be a revelation

Naughty girl Meghan. Sit down. Don't make a fuss. Know your place.

(along with 41,000 complaints to Ofcom)

Diana went on TV. Edward and Simpson went on TV. Sometimes enough is enough and in order to get closure and to get your truth out, you go public. I know I certainly would.

At least they have stepped back from what was claim we can see with our own eyes is not true.

Obviously that does not mean there isn't ?a proud history of campaigning for freedom of speech and the vital work that journalists do in a democracy to hold power to account? also.

Honestly. What a complete load of sh!t. Sounds like we're all 'saddended' then, as it saddens me that you feel comfortable just 'assuming' you know what drives other people's comments, becuase its suits your pre-existing beleifs to do so.

Tell me....can any criticism of someone's behaviour always be boiled down to their race and gender?

    • ". Which ever way you cut it, the world has become a much more scary and dangerous place. " This is true, but what I can't get my head around is the "why?" Where is the win for Trump/America/Voters  with all of these moves?
    • As Vladi said in his post "The Fifth". Will Trump even complete his term in office before someone does away with him. At this rate the rest of the World hate him, the leaders of the nations have distain for him, maybe his aim is to divide up the world between the USA, Russia and China, with Europe no longer being an Allie of the US.  However the only reason Trump is behaving in the way he is, is to stop spending money on non US related issues and hence driving all the money back to the US. As he says he "wants to make America great again". Personally he scare the ebiegibies out of me. What's the odds we'll be at war by the end of 2025, or the three super powers will be at war. Which ever way you cut it, the world has become a much more scary and dangerous place.
    • Thanks Ilona, it was that article which led me to do the Google search in the first place! And also to sign up to get updates from the Stop Trump thing, though I have mixed feelings about that (diplomacy etc. Starmer in a difficult position etc.) I know, it's never ending. And when I googled (Google!!!) to find out whether our website was American, I found out it was incorporated in Israel with its Headquarters in Tel Aviv 😭
