Removal companies

We are moving soon and are thinking of doing it properly with a removal company. Has anyone got any experience of this and if so were they any good/competitive in terms of price?

How big is the move? Ie how many beds?

I used Roberts and Denny last year for a full pack and move service - i think they were brilliant - reasonably priced, efficient and friendly packers/movers. I have recommended them to friends several times.

Also, search this forum, there are a few threads about removals (it's how I found R&D)

I used Simply Removals for packing, moving and storage for nearly a year. They were brilliant - friendly, helpful and very reasonable compared to all the other quotes I received.

I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

I used Crispins when moving last year. Very professional, huge van, all the kit and even came and gave a free quote on booking ie looked at every room and worked out size of van so we didn't over-book capacity. Insured etc.

We used Smile Moves again to move some stuff into storage and yet again an excellent service all round. Such a lovely team. It's nice when people treat your belongings as it's there own. 10/10 again. Thanks a lot

I second the recommendation for Harradines. Used them in September and they packed up and delivered and everything was handled professionally and without a hitch. I left it quite late to start looking for a oompany and Martin Harradine was able to come round the same day that I made the call to give me a quote. I like the idea that its a family business too.

Another recommendation for Harradines! They did a full move for me from ED to Nunhead and were brilliant- they packed everything, moved it quickly and then re-assembled all my furniture. Nice guys too and reasonably priced.

We used one of the bigger local companies and had a poor experience with them (when they damaged 2 pieces of furniture the response from the owner was "can't you live with it!" and nothing further. I found them unfriendly when things went wrong. However 3 friends have used Roberts & Denny and all found them very good. Best of luck!
