tiddles
Glimpsed a new red sign at the top of the road. Wasn?t in a position to stop the car at the main interchange to read it - anyone know what it says/means. Glimpsed no entry - so this means the park becomes available only to those who live near to it? It just gets better snd better doesn?t it. AylwardS
I think this is the sign you mean. It?s No Through Route. Advance warning of the restriction on Townley Road turning into East Dulwich Grove. Access to the park is unchanged Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277932-new-sign-eynella-rd/#findComment-1492566 Share on other sites
slarti b
It is a strange place to put an advance warning of a no through route at junction of Townley and EDG. Nothing to do with going straight ahead but applies if you turn right, then right again after 700 meters then left after 350 metres!Very misleading. Sally Eva
It's not a no through route sign. It's a timed restriction. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277932-new-sign-eynella-rd/#findComment-1492649 Share on other sites
Abe_froeman
That's very odd Sally because the sign in the photograph says "NO THORUGH ROUTE AHEAD".If it's wrong it should come down. It's not the only sign round here that is erroneous if so. JessM
These signs are not specific enough, and too far from the timed restrictions they are warning of. There is one on Lordship Lane too, near the Court Lane junction. Pugwash
These signs are not clear enough No thorough road applies for the blocking off of Court Lane at Carlton Avenue. You can obviously go down Eynella and Court Lane . kiera
It isn't obvious to me from that sign that you can drive down Eynella Rd - the timed restrictions surely don't apply to Court Lane. I remember the council were proposing to make Eynella Rd 'no entry' from the Barry Rd direction. This crossroads is much used by schoolchildren from St Anthony's and children using the children's library, so it seems to me that, regardless of Court Lane being a no through road ahead, it's where the sign has been placed that the timed restrictions apply. I quite agree that the sign is not clear, as no-one seems to know what it really means. n dulwich northerner
Well, they're perfectly obvious if you slam on the brakes and stop right in the middle of the road, reverse a couple of yards over a cyclist and give the finger to the BMW driver hooting at you while you read a sign that must be Southwark Council's entry for the Booker Prize.... KidKruger
Just entered Eynella from the other side of the junction at Barry Rd, first time I?d seen the signs (not been there for ages so didn?t know there?d be a dog there). The sign alarmed me as I drove across (couldn?t see sign beforehand because I was behind a large lorry) but basic logic in my head said ?well, I?m not ACTUALLY going ?through? to anywhere and that?ll have to be my argument in court?.Relieved to discover that there is probably not a penalty due, but Jesus Christ give us a chance and try putting relevant and well worded signs up (if they are, after all, supposed to be ?advising? drivers).
