katyakatya
Hi there,I am posting here to see if there are any couples out there expecting their first baby who would be available to be interviewed for a film for the Guardian. The Guardian is producing a series of short (6-8 minute) observational documentaries about 'key life experiences'. These are intimate portraits of individuals and families which include original interviews and personal archive. We are looking particularly for couples in their final trimester who would be interested in sharing their story for a film about 'having your first baby'. This will not be a film about the birth; it aims to discuss the psychological changes a woman and man encounter in the weeks before and immediately after the birth of their first child (perhaps the sudden rush of responsibility, the acts of nesting, fears about being good parents, about caring and providing). The aim is to work with people in a way that's comfortable for them, to express with sensitivity and compassion something of what this stage in their life feels like. An example of a similar video produced by the Guardian with photographer Briony Campbell (http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/video/2010/apr/13/briony-campbell-father-cancer). Saying Goodbye With My Camera is an intimate portrait of Briony's relationship with her father in the final stages of his life. We worked with Briony at an extremely difficult time in her life and the priority throughout the production process was to support her to express her own truth in order to create something that she and her family could feel proud of. This film went on to win a prestigious Webby Award for 'Best Documentary'.Please feel free to message me on this forum if you think you may be interested and feel free to spread the word!
