catalyst thieves

Is car reg yours or that of miscreants? If miscreants then advise local cops. These crimes are reaching epidemic proportions locally (see Missy eliot 27 January and several other posts). Police seem to unable to do much about these crimes. It is vital that any dodgy behaviour around parked vehicles is reported to police - a note for those that ignore this type of activity - your car will probably be next.

Sorry to hear about your car. I'm worried about mine for the same reason. As you were planning to sell your car by October, is it worth getting some quotes on what its resale value would have been prior to the catalytic converter theft so you can compare these to what the Insurance company offer? If the Insurance company valuation is significantly lower you might be able to use the quotes to argue that they should increase their offer.

"Because of Khan?"

You think he is wrong to try to reduce pollution levels?

I will also have to get a new car, but I'm not blaming Sadiq Khan for it!

Whilst battery cars maybe the future, what appears to be conveniently over looked is where is the power coming from to make and charge all these batteries and the inadequacy of charging points across the UK?

Issues already exist with the reliability of electric vehicles, some "dying" after a minimum of three years, and

a requirement for batteries to be replaced. How will these be disposed of safely? And how will electric vehicles eventually be scrapped when some are inevitably written off?

The "green agenda" is driving these changes, but all changes have impacts and consequences.

people are using food banks

businesses are going under and struggling

due to hardships over covid

oct 25th you cant drive in london unless you have a 16 plate van

or newer, prices are artificially high due to demand

ordinary people have got to get rid of cheap little motors

I can understand pollution and trying to rid us of it,

I would have thought Khan would have put on hold as cars and vans

are naturally being replaced all the time

my vans will go abroad and pollute in another country

Covid put me out of my business, but if covid had never existed Khan would have done so

on the 25th oct

I used to work for a famous match company. I told them about the management consultants who advised said company to save money by reducing the sand paper to only one side of the (friction) match box. It was an urban myth, there had only ever been sandpaper on one side.

It's similar to green electricity. Oh nobody in government is considering where all this electricity is coming from to power electric cars. Of course they have. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-plans-to-make-uk-world-leader-in-green-energy

Back to the subject - more thefts just up the road today: a catalytic converter stolen this morning and another resident intervened to stop a theft occurring. The police are looking for a blue Zafira without number plates. 3 men were in the vehicle. This was quite brazen.

Spoke to a friend yesterday - 2 cars done in Waveney Ave ,think last week .Both were Honda Jazz ,apparently these are popular ,? older cars have more of the valuable metal they want .Not sure of details as to why this model is a known target .

Carried out early evening ,v v fast . *BB gun used to threaten( not my friend) when interrupted .Police attended immediately .Some action apparently caught on door bell footage ,no reg nos capture of car being used by thieves .

*A BB gun is a type of air gun designed to shoot metallic ball projectiles called BBs (not to be confused with bearing balls), which are approximately the same size as BB-size lead birdshot (0.180 in or 4.6 mm in diameter)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB_gun

Oh dear hope no body was hurt with BB gun

I have heard or read somewhere that honda jazzes and toyota Pruis

are ideal targets for some reason, they are so blatant Waveney Ave is looked over by lots of eyes

it is worrying, I would be scared of being seen or caught

Ours was cut out last night on Kelvington Road 😡 Three guys doing it plus one getaway driver.

Super quick - 30 seconds. They propped the car up onto a wheelie bin, rather creative use of the bin! Called police who said they wouldn't come out but gave crime number for insurance, luckily it is covered and will be fixed.
