DulwichFox
Carbon dioxide?CO2?is an essential part of the cycle of life. Without a source of CO2, plants (Trees) will die off, and without plant life the earth's biological food chain would be terminally broken. Trees store CO2 and when they Die the CO2 is released into the atmosphere. The Answer is MORE trees. But More Trees need More CO2. RichH
The idea is to achieve NET zero carbon emissions, not to prevent such emissions at all. i.e. to not pump what some consider to be too much CO2 into the atmosphere, not to prevent it entirely. malumbu
Bit simplistic. CO2 levels were around 30% lower in pre industrial revolution times, but there was enough CO2 in the environment to sustain much higher levels of forest cover across the world. Planting more trees does not deplete CO2 to an extent that there isn't enough of it to sustain trees and forests (or plant life as a whole) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277252-zero-carbon-emissions/#findComment-1490429 Share on other sites
