kp4
HelloDoes anyone know if this is an 'orange' peel plaster technique? Or, how is it done? (by a roller, spray gun or any other tool? - I've found too many varieties online and it is very confusing for someone like me = no experience)I need to do some fixing and would love to match the texture to be the same. The texture is very soft, the photo is a close up. Thank you in advance. Kat Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277204-ceiling-plaster-texture/ Share on other sites
KidKruger
looks like roller to my untrained eye, especially if older. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277204-ceiling-plaster-texture/#findComment-1490295 Share on other sites
kp4
Thank you KidKruger. Yes, it is an older plaster. Kat Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277204-ceiling-plaster-texture/#findComment-1490303 Share on other sites
malumbu
Article about doing this https://modernize.com/homeowner-resources/other/creating-orange-peel-textured-wallBut why? This reminds me of non-residential buildings - schools, offices, stairwells. Austere, institutional, not very welcoming. Seabag
It looks like Anaglypta (blown pattern paper) with many coats of what looks like old vinyl silk paint covering itYou can still buy it https://www.gowallpaper.co.uk/anaglypta-original-arundel.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvZiP64_t7gIVAmHmCh2I4w3WEAkYAiABEgJ9CvD_BwE#utm_source=google_shopping Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/277204-ceiling-plaster-texture/#findComment-1490525 Share on other sites
Seabag
However, they made 100?s of patterns and textures. This may we?ll be discontinued.I used to be a decorator, I?ve seen lots of these type of papers. What period is the house ? 50?s -70?s ?At a push I thought it might be Artex, but it?s to soft a pattern/texture I think.Best of luck with what?re you choose to do. malumbu
Loved Anaglypta - great to hang and looked the biz under chair rails in Victorian and Edwardian houses. Do your lounge in it and you could make it look like a pub. Whatever a pub may be?? Seabag
I used to hang a lot of Anaglypta in pubs, then glaze it in dark ?nicotine? brown for that old boozer effect.Happy days. malumbu
Nicotine coloured paint goes without saying. We converted a toilet where staff smoked to a lab in one company and cleaned the windows with solvent - lots of brown gunk.
