Green Bins

In Edinburgh they Don?t look bad. They are large municipal ones, black, discreet and pedal operated .between parked cars. At the top of lordship lane private bins block the pavement in places, specially in houses containing several flats and with not enough front space.

Unfortunately communal bins around here are likely to be abused. For example they had to remove the bins in Sainsbury's car park and Bel Air park due to flytipping. Both car parks were packed full of rubbish before the bins were removed.

I like the idea of communal bins but there are more people living here, I would say, and not all are as genteel as the good burghers of the Scottish capital. We produce too much waste. Use this time of missing bin collections to think on...
