ooh and now Annaj as well!

Hope you're not shaking with anger. I thought that was a really well worded post

One of the reasons I like the forum as how these things swell up from time to time. If I recall, when you first came to a forum drinks you said you had intended to come to others but each time an argument had broken out and put you off coming - plus ca change

And to think I used to get accused of being overly fair on here - ahh memories

If I have over-stepped the mark on this occassion then I hold my hands up - usually I can rely on Keef to go "err.. Sean have another look at what you just wrote"

If both BB and annaj are adamant I have been judgemental in my comments then reason dictates that I have been - and maybe I should stop digging. But I'm still bothered that people will judge somewhere they haven't been so quickly. And what better chance to visit somewhere than with a big group

Annasfield - the woman with a plan! Like your style

CPT works as the main venue for me (good effort for Herne tho - does that qualify as a moral victory as we've not been before? Dunno - still think CPT is better suited)

I once valued my acquaintance with annaj, before she stopped talking to me!

(just kidding - it has turned into one of those discussions where every public post is preceded/superceded with a PM to explain "in person)

I'm going to become all Sean like and say I can see both sides of the story and in a fit of ambivalence agree wholeheartedly with both Sean and BB.

As it now looks like the Castle is not going to happen I will say that the Hurling season is kicking off again soon, and I'll be heading down the castle to watch Wexford lose their annual match.

I'll post up the fixture at some point here and I'd encourage those that have always given the Castle a wide berth to come and join us. It'd be during the day when it honestly is safe and welcoming; it's the only place I've bought a round, found myself to be 50p short and before I could call over to a friend, every single person at the bar had stuffed their hand in pocket and offered me the shortfall.

It may even introduce you to the wonderful sport of hurling, something I was completely ignorant of until 4 years ago, and is now a confirmed part of my sporting calendar.

But yes, it does still smell a bit.

Oh Sean bless you - I think you have made a very fair response second time round. (I am not going to berate you for your previous post and its parting shot: I'm just concerned that "fear/concern/whatever" has won out and not any rational merits or otherwise of the pub. That's not being judgemental - that's just what's happened

I loved your comment about how you usually rely on "Keef to go "err.. Sean have another look at what you just wrote" . To be fair, he actually did wade into the previous thread after I posted my original thoughts on what I'd observed:

That is the most important point, noone really thinks much of the uplands, but as we said when we agreed on it, it's the company that matters.

But sometimes we just don't hear the people whose opinions are the most valuable to us.

Personally I love these debates - AnnaJ, your post was great, well done on putting it out there.

And you know after these kind of discussions we can always pm each other to "check out" there are no hard feelings, if that breaks the ice and stops us fretting (or so you can continue the disucssion in a valuable way).

I think we are clearly maturing as a group - I love it!

Can't wait to see you all at the CPT!>:D<

I do like the internet, I am sat in a wind-swept depot in Tamworth interviewing scaffolders and have been for the past 3 days - a wearying experience enlivened by the passionate and heart felt debate back at home.

Lookng forward to getting back home later this PM and a good curry.

Am I correct in thinking that we have decided (sort of) that the next drinks will be at the CPT on 4 April.

Also - I would be more than happy to have a session at the Castle at some point.

oh go on - berate me! I'll stand by that statement

And I had seen Keef's words (and re-used them to make my point again later on)

As for PM's - don't talk to me about PM's - I need to do a serious clear out anyway but after the last 24 hours I'm amazed Admin hasn't had a word about the lack of server space

Finally - maturing. You smell...... ;-)

Can i make a suggestion in the interests of playing nice and not rehashing the same ground again and again?

From now on, the subject of the castle as a venue for forum drinks simply be answered castle - i'm a yes or castle - i'm a no. The reasons behind the answers will be abundantly clear to anyone who's been on the forum before, and anyone new can search for old threads if that curious.

I really enjoy chatting with all of you, both on the forum and in person, so I'd love if we could limit the time devoted to this subject a tad, as we just go round in circles: no minds get changed and someone gets shouted down. When a group of friends have a subject that is touchy and that they just can't agree on, they eventually stop torturing each other with it.

The Castle - social marmite. Truce?

Fear and Loathing - gosh...is there loathing? anna? belle? bignumber5??? group hug?

I think the drinks are well on way to be organised - the discussion had long drifted from being about (that pub) and into other territory. Perhaps I should have put it in another thread

I shall be heading to the Castle to watch Ireland v Wales on Saturday as it is a good excuse to have a pint a 1pm. Then perhaps to the CPT.

????? Fear and Loathing in SE22 perhaps?

?? I was about halfway down Crystal Palace Road when gentrification began to take hold??
