wifi extender mesh system

does anyone have a wifi (5 or 6) mesh system to boost a very poor wifi signal in an old house? or recommendations on what to get?

I just bought a Netgear extender from Curry's for ?35 (cheapest I could find it, plus free delivery) which was a Which best buy, to get a decent signal in my living room (the router is in my office upstairs).

I put the extender in my hall and the living room signal has gone from poor/fair to good.

I'm in a three bed Victorian terrace.

It's Netgear AC1200 WiFi Range Extender model EX6110 if you want to Google it.

If you're with BT broadband on the right package they'll give you their "disc" extenders to keep speeds up. It's what we have.
