theasidonio
I appreciate this topic has been done to death but my searches aren't coming up with anything useful....I am trying to organise a meal for my sister's birthday. Trying to find something that is a bit special (ie, not a chain or a pub) and can cater for a few fussy 'plain meat and potatoes only' guests (grr). I've ruled out Chapter One in Farnbrough for this reason.....Not too fussed on location, just want to stay South of the River. My sister lives in Denmark hill and the rest of us are spread through Dulwich, Forest Hill and Bromley. There are 25 of us roughly.Any suggestions? Marmora Man
Not exactly plainm "meat & potatoes" but the Polish Restaurant - Baltic close to "`The Cut" and Southwark Tube station is good and has much, sort of, plain food on offer. See: http://www.balticrestaurant.co.uk for details. jrpfinch
Crooked Well or Angels&Gypsies on Camberwell Green? Quite pricey, but worth it.Cornercoepia in Brixton Village. Same standard of cooking. Cheaper, but you have to dress up warm. nylonmeals
The rather brilliant Upstairs in Brixton has a room for 28http://www.upstairslondon.com/web/index.htmlThe food is delicious, really special. They have a Michelin 'bib gourmand" which means its the quality of a michelin star without all the poncey-ness.
