Lost Found Missing Cat GPS Tracking Does it exist?

Missing Lost Found Cat Cats

If such a thing as a GPS tracking device chip exists for Cat's do consider having one 'injected.'

This recent post shared via Nextdoor got me thinking, with what seems to be a 'hotspot' of lost cats in and around Nunhead - Please enlighten me if ANY cat can have a GPS tracking chip fitted by a vet - if yes please share more details.

Recently I was informed that a local person had been stealing cats then selling them, I understand that a court order was issued in late 2019 forbidding this person from having cats.

With one eyed Coco who unfortunately was recently found but had to be put to sleep, I never suspected theft, but you do wonder.

That a local person 'HAD' a reputation for cat theft I would hope would encourage all local cat owners to get a GPS tracking chip (if such a thing exists) fitted.

Wandering Mandu. This fluffy guy is Mandu, who lives on Adelaide Avenue. He's always been very independent and likes to be out and about, but since the second lockdown he's been staying out more and more and sometimes overnight. We think maybe he's convinced someone he's a stray in need of food and warmth and they're letting him into their house. He's very outgoing and loving and while I'm glad if he's a nice distraction to all the gloom at the moment we get very worried about him when he's gone overnight. If he is visiting you, please can you not feed him and make sure he's outside again in the evening so he can make his way home to curl up with his sister? He has plenty of food, beds and love here so no need to worry he's in any need!

Dear Jess most thoughtful and un-expected post, whoever might be feeding your cat I hope is well intentioned not considering the possible consequences or worse still could this be deliberate 'grooming'? do share is Mandu still returning home?

I know nothing about cats apart from my experience of trying to help rescue some lost locals - if it exists do consider having a GPS tracking chip 'injected' by a vet

1) This would give you peace of mind

2) This could also locate any feeding 'hotspots' ie give you an X marks the spot on who is feeding your cat, then you could visit and have a 'friendly chat.'

Feedback on my advice/theory most welcome

Yes and I am quite surprised.

Well from the feedback:( added to my 'Lost Cat Rescue Guide' )

If you have not already done so have your cat microchipped and fitted with a GPS tracker, (here is an example: www.pettracer.co.uk) these measures will to increase the likelihood of being reunited in case your cat is ever separated from you.

    • Looking for a few (any size) paving slabs for small garden project.  Nearby to Northcross Rd.  Can collect.    thanks
    • One more while I'm here, although more of the way a word is used, and whilst possibly pedantic it really does annoy me!! "Dilemma" Constantly used to describe any tricky decision, but the definition is a decision with only two options, both of which will have an equally bad outcome.  So a choice of whether to have cake, ice cream or chocolate is NOT A DILEMMA!!! See also "Decimate", which means to reduce by 10%, not just general widespread destruction... 😖
    • So sorry to hear this, makes me so angry that some scumbag thinks they can just take someone's transport, freedom, enjoyment away, and there's so little chance of them being caught or punished adequately.  If you haven't already, register it on BikeRegister and change the status to stolen, hopefully if any responsible person considers buying it then they'll check there first.  Report it to the Police - very little chance they're able to do anything, but it's important for the stats, which may eventually provoke action by the gov? Set up search alerts on Gumtree, eBay & Facebook Marketplace, but try to be as generic as possible - often they are listed as just "road bike" rather than the exact model.  I've also printed out flyers and dropped off at local bike shops in case the bike is brought in for repairs, but not sure how worthwhile that was. Hope this helps...
    • John has done a fantastic job plastering our bedroom. He boarded the ceiling & window bay then plastered both and the two remaining walls.  He always turns up on time and gets straight down to work, and leaves the room clean & tidy after. I thoroughly recommend John for any plastering work.
