High excitement here, thankfully as we are in NZ (very hot here!) there is plenty of opportunity to get outside and run off excess energy. It's Xmas eve here now, and also my brothers birthday. All the presents are wrapped so this evening will be all about relaxing (once we convince excited children to go to bed).

Merry Christmas to all of you x

Christmas is definitely a different concept for a 3 yr old than it is to a 2 yr old. Last year she was very sweet, and knew a few Christmas carols, and talked about someone called Miscas (Father Christmas). This year, she can't get to bed because of the excitement, and wakes up in the might wondering if it is Christmas yet, so she is over tired during the day, and really emotional at the slightest thing. 2 more sleeps to go here.
We just moved back to ed after 3 yrs abroad, everything is mostly still in boxes despite us spending all day unpacking, on the plus side we do have beds tonight, which is a bonus on last night, Xmas decs are still packed somewhere... 3 yo v excited, 9 mo pretty laid back.
my just-turned 3-year-old doesn't seem all that bothered, probably because she's just had her birthday. She loves the tree and Father Christmas (in theory, not in practice!), loved going to see the Snowman, but she isn't asking when it's Christmas Day or anything, even with her 2 advent calenders. So, it's all pretty chilled out round our way. Going to my mum's for the day so no cooking or hosting to do, thank goodness.

Agreed, turning three seems to be a turning point. Our littlest turned three yesterday (although we pretended it was at the beginning of Dec) and has definitely been infected by big sis's (5.5) excitement (they are both jumping around naked singing Jingle Bells in their 'outside voices' right now).

We've turned into Christmas stereotypes in our house:

Children...

We came downstairs yesterday to find the whole Christmas tree stripped of decorations....grrrr...

And the other day I walked into their room to find two full bottles of talc upended all over the floor (and air)

"we wanted it to snow!"

*sigh*

Me:

Walking around in Christmas jumper with glass/bottle of sherry surgically attached (mostly cos of children I suspect).

Husband:

Asked for cables....CABLES! for Christmas (so soused Mum has wrapped them dodgily and put them under the tree)

Went to A&E yesterday with suspected appendicitis!!! (turned out to be constipation), I suspect this was a ruse to escape the kids!

We're making gingerbread today, for a little Christmas eve party tonight...so am seriously hoping that keeps all of them out of trouble!!!!

Happy Christmas all!

My 3.5 year old told my wife the other day that she's "fed up with Christmas". Miserable little git. To be fair though, she has got tonsillitis and was really poorly a few days ago.

I do think she's a bit concerned about the strange bearded bloke coming in to her house at night.

My 18 month old just loves destroying the tree. All the lights are now out of reach, but it basically looks crap.
