Central SouthBRIEFING NOTEOn Monday 28th June 2021 at approximately 1.45pm Police, the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service were called to a fire on Elephant Road, SE17. There are significant road closures are in place and the public are advised to avoid the area. Elephant & Castle Rail, the Underground Station, and residential premises have been evacuated. Local Police are assisting the Local Authority and residents at a dedicated reception centre.At this early stage the incident is not believed to be linked to terrorism. Currently there are two known casualties suffering from smoke inhalation, one being a police officer. London Fire Brigade will be on scene into the evening.A Neighbourhoods Contact Desk has been set up at Southwark Police Station. Fatal collision se22?Officers were called at approximately 21:15hrs on Monday, 20 July to East Dulwich Grove, SE22 following reports of a collision. ?A moped, travelling towards Thorncombe Road, collided with a tree. The rider, a man in his 20s, died at the scene. His family have been informed.?It is yet to be confirmed if any other vehicles were involved.?Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating. They are particularly keen to hear from any drivers who were in East Dulwich Grove from 2100 hours onwards and who may have recorded the events leading up to the collision on dashcam. Central SouthBriefing note24 August 2021On Tuesday 24th August 2021 in the early hours, the London Fire Brigade attended West Lane, SE16 to reports of the Bermondsey and Rotherhithe War Memorial on fire.They have advised Police that a wreath was deliberately set alight, causing damage to this 100 year old Grade II listed war memorial. ?We remain open minded as to the reasons behind this crime. ?There is nothing at this stage to indicate any element of racial or cultural motivation. An investigation is under way and enquiries are ongoing.
