LondonMix
What is most important to you in a school? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/27341-best-primary-schools/#findComment-600575 Share on other sites
boleto
Most important is probably a friendly, supportive atmosphere, good pupil relationships and good quality teaching that stimulates a love of learning. LondonMix
I thought so. Truthfully, almost all the schools here academically outperform national standards for their intake and cater for students of all academic ability. The qualitative stuff is so subjective. One person's friendly environment is another persons suffocating ethos. As its so personal, when it comes to that side of things there is nothing that can replace going to visit the school and see if it feels like the right fit. The good news is, no school has a broad reputation for lacking the things you are looking for so you should be okay. Good luck! Carbonara
Do you already have an address, or are you planning to move to the area 'in general'? Because many if not most of the schools have catchments measured in 100s of metres, so you don't get a free choice of all the schools in the area. goosegreenpta
However if you are looking for in year admission to KS2 you will probably have your pick of schools. Most will have open days as the application deadline for reception places is looming.Goose Green Primary School has a school tour on Tuesday 8th January at 9.15 which takes in the whole school including, of course, KS2 and the music and art facilities. There will be parents of current pupils on hand to chat over hot drinks and biscuits after the tour and this is likely to include at least one or two with children in whichever year you are looking for.Good luck. We have lots of good schools and it's a great area to live in, you'll love it.GGPTA Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/27341-best-primary-schools/#findComment-600792 Share on other sites
boleto
Thanks for the replies. We are in the process of moving to an address near Goose Green from abroad so it's an in-year admission. I won't have time to visit schools before Christmas but at least wanted to get general impressions of local schools to have something to put on the admission form and to narrow my search in the new year. Judging from the replies, it seems that all the local schools are good so I have nothing to worry about.
