theron
Despite cowling and Wilcox in camberwell, I would be more than happy to see a local independent art and craft shop on the lane.. Jeremy
KK - With all that shoegazing music they were into, I'm not surprised some stimulants were needed to enjoy it.Sue - Ted Max's post was a direct criticism of the Dream Machine, sarcastically suggesting that it was a good idea. Mabel2001
Il Mirto on Melbourne Grove is a nice traditional family-owned Italian and only a hop, skip and jump from Lordship Lane. Jeremy
David - it's a good list, but realistically we have two cinemas a short journey away, and two really good tapas restaurants arguably within walking distance (Camberwell and Herne Hill). Dan G
fewer curry houses - i don't know how many stay open, half of them are dead most nights. i ate in swadesh recently - 8pm on a saturday night. you'd expect there to be more people eating there than just me and the wife. shame because the food is nice but eating in an empty restaurant doesn't make for the most fun night out.an italian restaurant/pizza place serving traditional thin crust pizzas cooked in a wood burning brick oven would make a killing.likewise a japanese or vietnamese. also agree a small indi cinema would go down well. sadly, i expect the rents dictate that new arrivals will be more of the likes of cafe nero and oliver bonus. the two chains i'd like to see depart are co-op and iceland. never use either of them. not sure who uses iceland. it's about as out of place as some of the joke suggestions on this thread for pound shops, strip bars and maccy ds. EmED
Less funeral parlours and indian restaurants!A Franco Manca, Byron, noodle place, waitrose, and a Zara or some sort of clothes shops would be amazing!!!Tapas place, more cool independent cafes like Lucas.A Toni and Guy! keane
Iceland was here long before a lot of the newer shops, yes it's obviously on the way out but people do use it - there are many things you can buy there that are the same as sold in sainsburys but cheaper. Many people who are on lower incomes & pensioners shop there, not everyone in East Dulwich is flush & Lordship Lane hasn't always been full of chi chi shops!
