mockney piers
I've got one of their songs on my CamdenCrawl double CD, but otherwise don't really know much about them. capt_birdseye
For the first two albums think grunge rock a-la-goth. Third album (Howl) is all rootsy Americana, surprisingly good. New one goes back to previous format. Jah Lush
Only got the first album Captain which I really liked. Recent purchases though have been Martha Wainwright, Joan As Policewoman, Bat For Lashes, a couple of old Kraftwerk albums, a King Tubby boxset and Alternatively Deep by Roots Manuva. And they're all excellent. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/272-what-is-east-dulwich-listening-to/page/9/#findComment-18256 Share on other sites
capt_birdseye
I broke my life-long addiction to CD hoarding and now no-longer have any albums on physical format. It was a tough thing to do but ultimately therapeutic. I can now walk past a music shop without needing to go in a spend lots of money. Jah Lush
Thanks Mockney, I too can't walk past a record shop without going in but it's a happy addiction. capt_birdseye
Marriage, that's where it all starts MP, it's a slippy slope from there on in. The last staw was when my then 1 year old started picking them up and chucking them on the floor, causing boxes to smash etc! Storage space is also at a bit of a premium now. It helps that I'm not too much of an audiophile and can happily listen to an MP3 ripped at 128kbps and not worry that I can't hear Ringo coughing during the bridge. louisiana
Just got back to ED with three new - vinyl - albums. One was a birthday present, IQ6 Zang Tumb Tuum Sampled. I have it on tape from the olden days, but wanted the vinyl - it's never been issued on digital formats. Possibly one of the best label compilations ever. The other two were picked up in Oxfam for a few pee: Welcome to the Pleasuredome (ZTT IQ1!), and Penthouse & Pavement (which got a mention on Radio 4 today). As you can see, I have a thing about ZTT (but also about 4AD, Sarah, etc etc) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/272-what-is-east-dulwich-listening-to/page/9/#findComment-18811 Share on other sites

Bleep
The new Throbbing Gristle LP. Much better than I had expected. I also picked up a shedload of Italodisco on a recent day-trip to Ghent. For anyone who likes 2nd hand record shopping, go to Belgium, as it's amazing over there.
