Having had a deep discussion for the last 2 hours about music with my best friend, i think it could only be fair for you to join me in praising, the wonderful, the magnificent, Paul Morrissey.

Currently rifling through all the Smiths collections since 1984......well before i was born but there you go......

*sigh*

Has anybody heard local band called Wake? They're dead good......

Drum, yes they've been mentioned over here in the music room

I am the proud owner, still, of vinyl copy of A Life With Brian.

Had a rather funny baggy episode recently. I did a little DJing course at a certain London DJ school last autumn, the tutor being an old hand who is now mainly 'left-coast' (leftfield west-coast hip hop) but had DJed most things over the years. And of course we all took along some records to practice with. And among my collection was the 12" Fool's Gold. Which he promptly used to compare with a more recent record to demonstrate a particular feature of modern music (over compression, lack of dynamic range). He was drooling over my records like...a teenager! Sooo sweet. Actually, the young boys in the class were also a bit weird about the Roses 12": "Is that an 'original'? Oooh, it must be worth loads!"

I used to see my 1960s coffee sets in museums, but I have recently started to see some of my records at places like the V&A and the Design Museum. It's all starting to make me feel a bit old...

  • 2 weeks later...

Smog (this time as Bil Callahan) has released a new one today. Not as sparse and windswept as A River Ain't Too Much, but good stuff nevertheless. Here's a bit of smog in action live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAjUxpcB0pw

Also got Coco Rosies's new one, but not had a chance to listen to it yet.

Blinder, did you get the new Bright Eyes yet? What's it like, he cheered up yet ;)

CD Times are doing one of those interminable top album lists.

So obviously I can't resist.

Right..

1. The Wombles Party Album

2. Charlie Drake sings Nick Drake

3. .....

I think it was last played at an exceedingly drunken new years at the old ancestral home. We were in the garden with it playing at full pelt while we played launch ourselves across the frozen pond (yes it was so long ago, water froze in the winter!!)
