Should the rating system on iPod/iTunes (and Sony thingies as it goes) be out of ten rather than 5?

I mean, you can't pack the nuances between good and shit with just 5 stars can you.

Plus I use the 1 star as a signifier that it was a bad rip and needs to be redone, so really it's out of 4, rubbish.

Oh yes, listening, not ranting, I remember.

Just did my Fopp spree.

New Decemberists, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat for Lashes and Yo La Tengo albums plus a couple of others.

Will report back, but Decemberists already shaping up to top their last sublime album!!

IO saw the Doves there, but was already knocking on the door of 70 quid and decided to leave it for another day.

well, they haven't lost their touch for a dark song!!!

The Rake

-----------

I had entered into a marriage

In the summer of my twenty-first year

And the bells rang for our wedding

Only now do I remember it clear

Alright, alright, alright

No more a rake and no more a bachelor

I was wedded and it whetted my thirst

Until her womb start spilling out babies

Only then did I reckon my curse

Alright, alright, alright

Alright, alright, alright

First came Isaiah with his crinkled little fingers

Then came Charlotte and that wretched girl Dawn

Ugly Myfanwy died on delivery

Mercifully taking her mother along

Alright, alright, alright

What can one do when one is widower

Shamefully saddled with three little pests

All that I wanted was the freedom of a new life

So my burden I began to divest

Alright, alright, alright

Alright, alright, alright

Charlotte I buried after feeding her foxglove

Dawn was easy, she was drowned in the bath

Isaiah fought but was easily bested

Burned his body for incurring my wrath

Alright, alright, alright

And that's how I came your humble narrator

To be living so easy and free

Expect you think that I should be haunted

But it never really bothers me

Alright, alright, alright

Alright, alright, alright

i'm listening to

Sigur Ros - beautiful music, saw them in Melbourne- they rocked.

Polysics- japanese electro-rock

- Canadian alt rock

- Maladroit rocks

- what's better than Arnie + metal- metal songs abt Arnie

Regina Specktor- quite possibly the most beautiful song ever.

and a really catchy song on Xfm ( sadly the dj never mention the band name or song title ) [i think the lyrics include the following lines- nobodys' watching, everybodys watching *mumbles something* ..watchout..*other lyrics*..and it breaks my heart in 2]

1st person to name the band/ song gets a beer...

    • I was a late starter, just 17, when I started to go to pubs regularly.  I'd been bought a drink by a family friend before that.  We had several pubs that catered for under age drinkers, one 15 +, one 16+ etc till we graduated to the 18+ pub and felt really grown up.  And at those young ages alcohol tolerance was low so you could nurse your drink for an hour or so. The curse of binge drinking came later.....
    • Maybe they just eat ice and the wrapper made of ice dissolves in their bin. Have you checked for signs of water inside ?
