Posted before on this thread but they need to introduce Low Pedestrian Neighbourhoods in this part of LL. Perhaps some planters forcing people to the other side of the road. Obviously winners and losers if this was done and no doubt those who don't usually use the other side of the street will be peed off on pedestrian displacement.

have just re-read your first post on this thread:

Are you are seriously suggesting that LTN's should be used to deter customers from patronising local business? There is quite a lot of this chat on Twitter at the min, whereby certain pro factions are aggressively targeting local traders. IMHO this is not constructive nor a good look!

Still long lines running up Bassano Street at lunchtime. In fact most of Lordship Lane is a long line for various shops. Glad to see many are still trying to support their local traders - they need all the help they can get right now.

Madness.. There will be so much waste after Christmas..

Every year in the UK, approximately 7 million tonnes of food is wasted.

Just during the Christmas, 2 million turkeys, 5 million Christmas puddings, and 74 million mince pie get disposed

while still edible, causing almost 270,000 tons of food waste in total during this widely celebrated holiday.

Is this because people buy them and don't eat them, or because the shops get too much food in?

If the latter, why isn't the surplus given to food banks or the homeless (well, probably not raw turkey to the homeless)?

Best is we started doing what our parents, grand parents and great grandparents did in WWII and keep chickens and rabbits that we could then slaughter ourselves. Obviously if you have a yard. Or better still we all had grazing rights eg using Goose Green for our goats and sheep. That would elevate SE22 well above other similar areas of London.

I went past at 1pm and they were open, but the queue was only 4 people outside the shop.

    • In fact there was a promotional leaflet came through the letter box today, for sending by RM's parcel post by buying online.  There are also options mentioned for having the labels printed  at a Collect+ store or at a Parcel Locker.  More info at https://www.royalmail.com/.
    • Is it? Let's see  Farming is a tough gig with increasingly lower returns, if farms have to sell off land to pay inheritance tax it will reduce their ability to survive. Which in real terms could mean more farm land lost and more reliance on imported food which sees money flowing out, not in to the country.  But I guess as long as you get cheap food that doesn't concern you 😉  Lol "what about the cars"  again Mal... like a broken record....  Governments know that squeezing car drivers for more fuel duty will drive down income from taxes as people switch to electric, which would leave them with a black hole in income. Guess the fuel duty is a fine balancing act tiĺl enough electric cars have been sold to raise tax revenue from their use.
    • Hello - if anyone is in need of sofa/rug/carpet cleaning, we have recently had a very good experience with husband and wife team Kate and Vlad. They're a very reasonable cost and the result was great (don't look too closely at the colour of the water that comes out!) Kate's number is 07731 140246
    • You can buy your parcel postage (tracked or any other) online from Royal Mail, they will come to your address with the label and pick up your parcel, (no extra charge) alternatively, you can print your label at home and apply to your parcel for them to pick up from you also. The other option is to drop off your labelled parcel to the Royal Mail Delivery Office of your choice.
