hensamenities
i understand that the gyms are closed again and I take pleasure at the ingenious straps and pulleys attached to trees to help people train outdoors. However, this morning one trainer had set a bench press on the narrow path between the fields and was encouraging his client to complete sets of free weights requiring other park users to accommodate the obstruction. No room left for a wheelchair or mobility scooter to pass. What are the park regulations on personal trainers rights to use the rye? It was a shame to see a lack of common sense and consideration for others so blatantly in operation. Siduhe
The Code of Conduct that trainers need to use can be downloaded here - it includes as a key requirement that right of way is given to other park users. Pretty sure that no large items of equipment can be used either.https://www.southwark.gov.uk/leisure-and-sport/park-s-exercise-licence Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/269231-personal-trainers-on-the-rye/#findComment-1466929 Share on other sites
hensamenities
Thank you for that link! I might ask to see if the trainer is registered next time. nina_maniana
If someone?s in the way you can just say? It may seem inconsiderate but trainers are under a lot of stress. Many of them were unable to work for months of this year and as self employed people are unable to access the furlough scheme. I can see how a person under stress might just be thinking of how best to train their client and forgetting the needs of other park users. I bet a friendly reminder rather than a demand for registration details would suffice. These times are hard for everyone :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/269231-personal-trainers-on-the-rye/#findComment-1467051 Share on other sites
hensamenities
I did say and the trainer said he could not be bothered to listen to me. Have a look at the Southwark link above and the requirements are very clear. Also, who said anything about? demanding?anything? And why are you assuming I am unfriendly?
