We have had the pleasure of knowing Ilze since May 2005, when she started as an au pair to our two children aged 6 and 7 at the time. Since then Ilze has carried out the following roles:

a. Au Pair

b. Nanny

c. Nanny/Housekeeper

In these roles she has been responsible for the care and supervision the children outside of school hours, domestic duties and some household duties, driving the children to school and other activities. In all of these roles Ilze has performed well and has successfully dealt with all situations and emergencies using her resourcefulness.

In addition, in the last few years Ilze has been asked to do more work associated with organising workmen and carrying out light decorative work around the house. This she has done well and our house looks significantly better for her efforts. She has occasionally helped out other parents with other children, gardening and also carried out some checking of documents for other people.

Ilze is a conscientious individual who relates well to both the children and the parents. She is very reliable, flexible in her attitude and approach to coping with the rigours of a very busy household. She is well organised particularly during the school holidays and in emergencies can be relied upon to address the problem with minimal supervision. In all of the time she has worked for us she has ensured the safety and security of the children with no problems.

During the last few years as the children have become more self-sufficient, Ilze has actively requested more work and tasks to ensure that she does not become bored. She always shows good initiative and can be relied upon to make a good decision or ask for advice when appropriate.

Ilze has improved her command of spoken English whilst she has been with us and is able to hold a fluent and good conversation in English, Russian and Latvian. Her reading of English is good although her written is only passable, as she had little reason to practice in the last few years.

I would highly recommend Ilze as a either a carer for children or as a supervisor for other employees as she has shown common sense, initiative and a desire to do a good job.
