steveo
Are TV ads supposed to engender violent repulsion? Thank the lord I have a Tivo box and can mostly avoid seeing any meerkats but seriously does anyone like those cheeky little chaps? Or do you just want to rip off their faces?I mean because of that fat bloke I will never, ever, ever use gocompare.com.Is that really what the agencies intend? Which are the worst TV ads? titch juicy
the ad agencies are doing their job very well for comparethemarket and gocomparethe majority of people looking for a comparison site for insurance will immediately go straight to those websites- as those are the ones stuck in their headsdeliberately awful ads get people talking about them and therefore make for great product awareness Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26756-godawful-tv-ads/#findComment-592524 Share on other sites

David A
I was a TV buyer for many years and had to buy space for many campaigns including this doozie for 'Fruit n Fibre', featuring Ross Kemp twatting around with a rubber golf club. Of the current bunch, BT's agency have done a remarkable job in making the students in their campaign as self-important and slappable as real ones. Salsaboy
An ex-neighbour of mine was the camera man on that advert. He brought home a load of the plywood palm trees and 2 bin liners full of fruit and fibre. computedshorty
Go compare. The commercial - which launched the insurance comparison site's new 'Saving the Nation' campaign on Monday (July 2) - features the BBC's Wimbledon anchor Barker firing a large rocket launcher at opera singer Gio Compario (Wynne Evans) in an attempt to kill off the face of the brand. BrandNewGuy
The current Vodaphone ad with bloody Yoda makes me scream. The woman on the train is doing a crossword with the clue "Excuse". Yoda says, "Most cryptic". No it isn't, Yoda - it's a straightforward clue, not bloody cryptic. Then he suggests "Apologise" as the answer - which fits! That's not a synonym for "Excuse". If the agency is going to spend millions hiring out an annoying green dwarf alien from George Lucas, the least they could do would be to spend another hundred quid on a proper bloody crossword. *Bob*
Most broadcasters are cacking their pants over diminishing advertising revenues and desperate to bring back The Good Times.Beware any new 'innovation' backed by them, like the new 'youview' system. uncleglen
I loved the one where they talked with their mouths full- KFC- it was so well done- no food fell out and you couldn't see the food moving around and you could understand what they were saying- brilliant piece of work. TheArtfulDogger
Maggi sizzling steak advert where the annoying kid and dad agree that mums a genius, then again she must be to convince them that the packet mix is better then cooking a real meal for them! Now that's a rubbish advert in my mind Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26756-godawful-tv-ads/#findComment-592763 Share on other sites
Pickle
The thing that annoys me the most about that Maggi ad is that at the end they say the word Maggi, and pronounce it "Maggie", when for 30 odd years I have thought it was pronounced "Madgie".I caught my kids singing "Go Compare" the other day. Worst for me was the radio advert... We buy any car, dot com. Jah Lush
By far the most irritating are the Ladrokes ads. Encouraging gambling is bad enough but I'm overcome with bad intensions when they constantly appear between sports programmes. I want to shove that phone down that fake Italian's throat and then smash his face in.
