This month?s update of the Forward Plan has now been published, a number of new upcoming decisions listed including a decision on participation in a 12 month pan-London scooter trial

Burbage - you seem to be missing the point.....I don't think there is a 20 mph speed camera anywhere in the country that has issued 22,500 fines in such a short period of time. No one is suggesting that speeding is not a problem - we are suggesting that the bus gates are inappropriately and inadequately signposted which is resulting in many people getting fines (not because of the wilful ignoring of said signs but because they have no idea there are any restrictions in place.

22,424 fines, amazing. Anyone know how many for Townley road? Must be several thousand as well I think.


Such council shenanigans will only ever stop if they don't have the financial incentive. Much easier to issue fines than raise council tax. That needs to come from central government via changing the law.


All these restrictions seem quite obviously aimed at generating money, due to shortfalls from Covid. Little or nothing to do with traffic management.


Lambeth are just as bad, some of the parts of streatham are now like a maze where if you make a wrong turn it's ?65 fine coming your way. Very hard to actually find your way out without getting a ticket if you're new to the area.

Witnessed my first emergency vehicle blocked by the LTN yesterday. Police car with lights flashing heading from LL towards DV. Made to turn into Elsie, then changed mind and turned down Derwent. Had to 3 point turn at the bottom and exit back on to EDG. Wisely didn?t try Melbourne. Headed off towards DV.
How is it that Waze has updated for these closures, yet LAS (where you'd think that accurate mapping was more critical than popping to the shops) hasn't managed to update 8 months on? What kind of system did LAS sign up for - the procurement team need sacking!

Come on, NHS plus IT?! Ambulance satnavs are inbuilt and generally get updated once per year when the ambulance has it's full service. They can't download stuff online / via 4G.


Quite a few paramedics use their own phones as a backup. The thing with LAS is that they're routinely operating "out of area", a crew may go from (say) Kings College Hospital to an incident reasonably locally but then the casualty needs to go to a specialist centre elsewhere. Or they might be en route back from a call and get retasked so they're not going from a fixed point to a local incident.


LFB is the opposite, they go from a fixed point to an incident (usually local unless it's major and requires engines from all over) and then they return to "their" base for restocking the engine.


Waze and Google also have community feedback options, you can click on a map and tell them that the road is closed, there's been an accident or whatever. One of the removed LTNs in Wandsworth, the residents simply kept reporting incidents/road closure on Waze!

So they are still attempting to needlessly delay and divert emergency vehicles? And dump their traffic onto other peoples' roads.


That just shows you the callous selfishness at the heart of these measures. These people don't care who dies as long as they can keep their roads to themselves

Lots of small things affecting various streets so worth a look. Pay by phone parking bays around ED LTN, parking restrictions outside northern parade of shops in Dulwich Village, various double yellow lines /

disabled bays, and I think some sort

of cycle wands/ armadillos on Park Hall Road near the Croxted intersection.

Better Streets for Southwark / Mums for Lungs have an online event on 26 May with a particular focus on campaigning for School Streets (one area where actually a lot of people from both sides of the Dulwich LTN debate seem

to agree in large part).

So reading through the document it suggests you need the unique reference number from the bottom of the envelope that the newsletter came in. I?ve just fished the envelope out of the recycling bin to take a pic!


Ps I guess that might imply one response per household, unless it?s like a census and one person responds on behalf of the household, listing household members. Who knows?

It says all those who registered online to be notified will be informed, FWIW I registered online but haven?t yet received any notification by email.


ETA have attached the map of the trial schemes. Not sure why the planters in ED are ?permeable? while the CA/CL closure is a ?junction closure? - is there a plan to get rid of the bikes in Dulwich Square? Also the large purple circles are a bit confusing.

I've looked at the Newsletter via your links but I've not spotted the need for any unique ref nos -what is this required for ?

I think the unique ref numbers were part of the initial plan when the council were hoping to be able to focus the review on those living within the LTN area only. A lot of people saw through that plan, and remember it was Cllr Williams who referenced the unique ref numbers in emails.


It is clear there is still an element of this approach indicated by the blue shading area which I can only presume is the official "review area" and I suspect the residents there will be given a heavier weighting, this eliminating the voices of those living on the displacement routes.


The council engagement plan references those on the boundary roads (but nothing beyond) so I suspect they will not be taking the views of those living east of Lordship Lane as strongly as those within the LTN area. This is why they have not distributed/failed to distribute the leaflets beyond the blue shading area.


It's clear what they are doing here, the engagement plan is very open ended and we probably won't find out until they present the results of the review bit it does look as if it is now a case of collect as much data as possible to find a way to positively present the results.

Suspect you are correct even though still impacted by the amount of traffic. I live near the Horniman and getting on a bus to go along Lordship Lane is now taking a ridiculous amount of time. I walked home from Northcross Road on Friday lunchtime and arrived at the same time at a 176 with only a 5 minute head start; I'd started walking while I waited for a bus only. On the plus side, it did increase my step count for the day but that's not always the point.

Envelope update - there is nothing on the outside of the envelope to indicate it's from Southwark or anyone else, and just says to "The Resident" (with specific address). Postage paid, 1st class. As mentioned I thought it was one of those estate agent "do you want to sell your house" things.

Baloney. Fight your war with facts man, for goodness sake.

I?ve registered. So far nothing through my door or e-mailed to me...still I live on East Dulwich Grove, so probably won?t get one. As long as Henrietta 5, Tamsin 3 and Creola 7 in Court get them though...that should be fine. I do expect we will be seeing many hand drawn pictures from inside the LTNs with sad faces and phrases such as ?please don?t take my play square away? etc. Ooooooh it tugs at one?s heart strings, even for an evil, petrol headed, boundary roader like me......I should just breath in the fumes every morning and think myself lucky to be allowed to live near 5 LTNs.

My they really seem to be going out of their way to bury this review and try to ensure people miss it. Ironic isn't it that they send out all other comms from the council with their logo plastered all over it.....perhaps this was another one of those council LTN oversights....


It will be very interesting to see how widely this leaflet is distributed....they mess up the first one royally....ahem, perhaps that has always been the plan!

    • It wasn't a rumour, the salon had closed when I posted here. Regarding the Post Office, as I said go and ask them.
    • My annoyance Is with the fact that the gym is being closed for 5 weeks for refurbishment but we dont have an option to freeze our membership if the only facility we use is the gym. Apparently Peckham gym is closed at the same time for refurbishment which I think is pretty stupid. Therefore the nearest gym for all the members from ED leisure centre and Peckham leisurecentre is the one in Camberwell . I lament the everyone active days..at least I could attend gyms near to work and outside Southwark
