Interesting TfL FoI request I just spotted which seems to confirm my earlier FOI request that TfL were only told about the Phase 2 DV changes after they had been implemented (the orders were made 15 Oct and came into force 22 Oct). Seems like there is some monitoring of bus times etc going on.

Council briefing on CPZ roll out: although this has been taken down off the website, the good news is that I printed a copy. The bad news is that I printed it in black and white on my elderly printer, so the quality isn't perfect and you can't see the nice magenta colour of the "to be confirmed" zone that is a chunk of East Dulwich.

I?ll post any other documents I spot about the roll out of the CPZ to the southern wards here. Looks like it is definitely happening, the decision on implementation for the Nunhead /Queens Road area has recently been added to the forward plan - decision due in October with statutory consultation thereafter.

Looking again at the council document I posted yesterday, I?m not sure why some areas get ?public engagement? before statutory consultation (Rotherhithe and Surrey Docks, Dulwich Village), while the rest don?t. The Rotherhithe / Surrey Docks engagement exercise has already happened, and it might be difficult not to mention CPZ when engaging on LTN issues in DV, so perhaps it is a general change in policy, not to engage pre-statutory consultation? Don?t know.

I have not had any motor vehicle (or even bicycle) for more than twenty years yet I think that putting a CPZ in places far from a rail station, which are used as day-time car parks by some who commute on trains, is real money-grabbing. 41 spaces, for example, in Dulwich Hill looks mercifully small, but sends the message that "we will get you even if you are in a place traditionally exempt from CPZs". It will cause more households to pave over their front gardens, and we all know how bad that is for the look of a street and its ecology.

I think that figure of 41 may be the number of current residents' permits on estates in the ward, rather than what they have planned (the stated purpose of the report is to quantify present parking provision in order to support the previous recommendation by the Council's Air Quality Commission that "parking space is treated as a public amenity and reduced over time"). These figures are the baseline they are starting from, as I read it.

Also, the minutes of the last cabinet meeting have now been posted online, including written answers to a large number of public questions about review of the Dulwich LTN. None of the answers is particularly illuminating - essentially, we?re going to have a thorough review, we?ll let you know in due course.

Legal, I think that that registration form gives us a good idea on the review area as the pulldown menu asks you to select which road you live on. I wonder if this gives us a clue to the review area or whether the council are using this to determine the likely level of comments expected from certain streets (the cynic in me wonders whether this will be used to assess the final review area)

Interesting to see that despite roads like Goodrich being included Underhill Road is not included which is one of the main displacement routes out of Dulwich.

Also it asks if you want a paper copy of the consultation documents which whilst good for the environment pretty much ensures no proactive mail drop or notification for people who may not be aware of the review.

Just to echo what is said above, if the list of streets given reflects the core area for review - it confirms the fairly limited scope of review which was initially proposed by the Council, and doesn't include the key roads in Dulwich Hill/Dulwich Wood which have consistently reported significant impacts from the Court Lane LTN, and where councillors said these roads should now be included in the consultation area (although Council Officers then said to me there were no plans to do so).

You can pick "Other" and give your road, but it's not clear what weight will be given to "other" roads and there is a suggestion that their feedback will need to be balanced against the feedback from within the core area.

I really do encourage anyone in these non-core areas who feels they have been impacted (positively or negatively) to sign up. I still firmly believe there is a middle path here (i.e. not getting rid of all LTNs and going back to how things were) but Southwark will only move towards some of those middle path options (like actual proper monitoring on displacement streets) if enough people tell them their experiences.

I agree Siduhe and I also think that there needs to be a way of ensuring that the voices of those who work in the area, while living outside the area, are heard. I will be forwarding info to tradespeople I have used who work regularly in this area, it would be good if local businesses could make staff and regular customers aware.

The people that live along the roads that are closed off may well be happy that their roads are quiter and their kids can play outside but I bet they dont think like that when they are driving along other peoples roads spilling out their fumes etc especially the same people driving g along my road Barry road the people are hypocrites as far as I'm concerned the quicker the LTN'S go the better especially for the buisnesses that its impacting and the people trying to get to work.

There are no kids playing on those roads (or car parks).. lots of kid on Croxted and EDG on school days.
