Sue
Admin, please move if this isn't in the right section.I have a record deck I'd like to take to a charity shop (the deck has connections to convert vinyl to MP3s or whatever via appropriate software). Does anybody know if either the hospice shop or the Mind shop takes electrical items? I know when I took an old vintage lamp to the hospice shop they wouldn't take it until I had removed all the wiring, however this deck is newer than the lamp was (though around ten years old I think). OutOfFocus
My understanding is the British Heart foundation are more accepting of electrical goods. We bought a DVD Player from their bromley branch, and named them British SCART foundation (groan). almost peckham
St. Christopher's have a list online of what they will and won't take but it doesn't really tally with what they will and won't take when you turn up with stuff. It was new and maybe the person out the back wanted it for themselves! DulwichFox
Charity shops will no longer take used electrical items They have to be PAT Tested for them to sell them. That's the law.. Foxy. Yes, so the charity shops which do take them get them PAT tested.I've always assumed they have a volunteer who does this for free, as it probably wouldn't be worth their while otherwise.I've also always assumed that the ones who don't take them don't have such a person. But of course I could be wrong on all counts 🤣 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/266474-charity-shop-taking-electrical-items/#findComment-1459599 Share on other sites
