...at least not for a while. TfL published its priorities for the next decade, and Bakerloo Line isn't on there. DLR extension to Thamesmead, better trains for Jubilee line, more trains and services for the Northern Line, more electric buses, yes - but no tube for SE London. Bugger. Understandable but still...bugger.

Other interesting things:

The Bakerloo line fleet is 48 years old!

Nearly half of London car trips could be cycled in under 10 minutes. More than a third could be walked in under 25 minutes.

Santander Cycle membership went up 200% this year.

Only a third of tube stations are step free accessible.

20,000 new houses in Thamesmead are possible...if the DLR is extended.

TfL will build 13,400 houses (50% market rate, 50% affordable) in London. If it were allowed to borrow, it could build another 47,000!

The London Mayor Sadiq Khan has decided the Silvertown car tunnel, costing ?2bn, is more valuable than the Bakerloo line extension and Rotherhithe cycl/pedestrian bridge.

So much for fighting global warming with active travel and public transport etc.

To be honest in Southwark the current population is in Peckham and Camberwell - those in OKR are a future population that don't have any say as yet. Yes there was a lot of development along OKR planned but that won't get votes next year.

So electoral politics would say it won't be a priority.

Very disappointing. The tube map on page 20, showing the big white empty space in SE London, pretty much sums it up.

ALso disappointing is the section on buses. Great that they are electifying them but I saw nothing about increasing frequency or rationalisation or improvement of services.

Interesting fact for DKBilly, they want to spen money on more "stabling" fro Elizabeth line; I thught horse drawn trains were a bit old school :-)

Yes that tube map on page 20 very visually answers the question why so many people drive in South East London.

It is so ironic that at a time when we are all being encouraged to ditch the car there is being nothing done to improve public transport. South East London is the land that public transport forgot!!

Rubbish. Public transport is not just the tube. We've got multiple train stations and train lines in and near East Dulwich, tons of buses (inc 24 hour routes), and we're in the borough with one of the lowest rates of car usage in London. If you actually read the submission, you'd see there is plenty being done to improve public transport.

The tube is a big part of public transportation in London. 2 million people used to use it everyday.

But, as you pointed out in your opening gambit, no tube coming this way anyway soon meaning access to one of the most popular methods of getting around the city is limited - more so than any other part of London.

As you quite rightly pointed out..ain't gonna happen chief....bugger indeed.

They are closed on Tuesdays, otherwise open 12-3 and 5-9 or 10. I think that varies at weekends.
