mikeb
Can anyone recommend some 10km running routes around the local area? I've rashly signed up for a triathlon next year and need to get a lot fitter. I could just go round and round the parks but I'd rather see a bit more of the neighbourhood, including a few hills.ThanksMike Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26506-10km-running-routes/ Share on other sites
sbarry
North dulwich station to elephant and castle - through camberwell/walworth - is almost exactly 5k.Continue into the City and it's about another 2 or 3k, further into town/west end and you'll easily have 10k done. Not the prettiest route, but if you happen to work in central london it's a handy way of getting the miles in, and at 7.30am on a weekday it's very quiet but not too quiet so as to feel unsafe.I'll be interested to see some nice local routes on this thread too :)mapmyrun is a handy tool for measuring routes - but you probably already know that Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26506-10km-running-routes/#findComment-589016 Share on other sites
Jeremy
I did have a route... it's something like this:- Start at Peckham Rye (corner of East Dulwich Rd). Go round edge of the Rye, via Homestall/Colyton Rd.- Go to Dulwich Park via Dunstans Rd. Do a 3/4 lap of the park an exit at Dulwich Village.- Go north through Dulwich Village, onto Red Post Hill, and Herne Hill Road- Go round outside of Ruskin Park, exit by Denmark Hill- Go to Goose Green via Grove Lane / Dog Kennel HillYou may have to tinker with the route around the parks on MapMyRun to get exactly 10K. But it takes in three local parks, and has some killer hills - particularly Dunstans/Underhill Rd. taper
Where do you live? You can run a good 10k route via three of the following: brockwell, Dulwich, Belair, Peckham rye and Burgess. I do a 10k loop through Burgess to Kennington Park and back but live in Peckham. For hills head up to Sydenham Wood and Crystal Palace. Ant
Try www.walkjogrun.net - you can search for routes other people have made or make your own. It has plenty of routes for this area. www.gmap-pedometer.com is also good. Here's one 10k route I like - quite hilly in parts: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5457966 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26506-10km-running-routes/#findComment-589114 Share on other sites
susieb
My favourite is up through Dulwich Woods to do once round Crystal Palace Park and back. Uphill all the way there and downhill all the way back. I'd second using walkjogrun website. mikeb
Thanks everyone. If it helps, I live just off Lordship Lane, about halfway up.Last week I ran through Dulwich and Belair parks, up Croxted Rd and Herne Hill to Champion Hill and then back down the side of Peckham Rye - this was just over 10k.
