Recommended Roofer / Roofing Specialist - RJP (Russell Perring) Roofing

Recommended Posts

As so many others have, I too would like to recommend Russell and his team for guttering. Our gutters were badly leaking (causing damp) and we also had some issues regarding drainage. Russell made good recommendations on how to solve the issues and our gutters have not leaked since. Very efficient work and nice guys. Would definitely use them again!

Got Russell round a few months ago for a last ditch effort to resolve a recurrent leak that six others roofers had failed to fix. After trying various solutions all of them eventually said the chimney was the problem and quoted huge amounts to take the chimney down. This felt a bit extreme - especially as neighbours have removed their chimneys and still have problems. Russell offered a solution and was so confident it would work he said he wouldn't charge if it didn't work. He fixed it in October, and came back a few weeks ago to complete some other work for us. He's busy, but if you're patient and nudge him nicely he will fit you in. His fix has worked and after numerous bad experiences with roofers we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Busy, but hardworking and reliable. We won't use anyone else now.

Just adding my endorsement of Russell to this thread. He's been busy, and it was a bit difficult to get hold of him but we knew he was the man for the job. This call out was to fix a problem with our flat roof. Russell always arrives promptly, is ready to go and efficient. He and his team (nice bunch) worked hard so the job was finished quickly, which was just as well with all the rain We are pleased that the problem has been sorted and Russell checked up after a few days to make sure everything was ok. Russell's number is: 07852 972 052

I agree .He also finds problems where there aren't any. His quotes are way too high.I would not trust him.

I contacted Russell based on some of the positive reviews on this forum. His admin assistant (partner or someone else) did arrange for him to come to my flat to take a look fairly promptly. I couldn't be around for his visit and followed up with him afterwards on his findings as he never reported back after his visit. Three chasers later and no response, I have given up on him. Bizarre and a complete waste of my time.

Can you give some examples of "problems he finds when there aren't any" and also his "high' quotes and what you are comparing them with?

I don't recognise Russell Perring at all from this description, and as for his being untrustworthy, words fail me.

If you "couldn't be around for his visit" - when presumably he would have told you his findings in person then and there - possibly he thinks you are a complete waste of his time!!!

Sue - you don't happen to be the same Sue that I was in contact with to arrange Russell's visit do you? That would be a strange coincidence. I provided all details upfront including what he needed to look at, that I would not be around but someone would be able to give him access and a number to contact me on when he was at the flat. This was all confirmed as being fine before his visit and I didn't receive a call from Russell while he was there either.

No of course I'm not the same Sue!!!!

I have recommended Russell many times on here however, having been very happy with his service (and communication) in the past.

I wrote the original post some years ago. Russell has come back a few times since and always been great - the last one was when that crazy downpour knocked out our downpipe (not Russell's work). He called me ad-hoc on the way back from another job and said he could come round now to sort it out. As a simple quick job (but I wasn't getting up on the roof!), he tried to insist on doing it for free so I had to give one of his boys some cash while he was up the ladder.

I think the fact that people here get defensive of criticism of him shows how highly people regard him - he did tell me he is very busy though and can't get back to everyone. If you can get hold of him, he's usually been great for us - sounds like you got a bit unlucky.

We instructed Russell Perring (RJP Roofing and Building Ltd.) based on the numerous recommendations on this forum to fix the top of a party wall. He was very helpful, friendly and professional and carried out the works to our complete satisfaction at a reasonable price. We will certainly instruct him again for future roofing jobs and whole-heartedly recommend him and his company.

Sounds like he might be good if you are lucky enough that he actually turns up - which he failed to do in my case.

Appointment made on phone and confirmed by email. I mentioned having read good reviews on here.

He didn't turn up.

Once he was late I sent a couple of texts asking whether we were still on - no reply. Also tried to call but it rang out without picking up. No follow up from him by phone, text or email.

So Russell Perring of RJP Roofing gets a big THUMBS DOWN from me for being an unreliable timewaster, I'm afraid.

I used him on a few jobs and he was brilliant, reliable, knowledgeable etc.

However, last time over a year ago, he came to give a quote which we verbally accepted for a complete new roof, and have never been able to get hold of him since, by phone or e-mail?  I wondered if something had happened to him?

I’ve also had Russell not show up to previously agree meetings on a couple of occasions. He’s done work for me in the past and I think he’s honest but found the constant chasing (on my part) frustrating and eventually moved on to a better communicator.

Global issues all play their own parts (as they do with other countries) but the UK govt had  been especially abject for years. Improvements could not be made with them in power.
