Recommended Roofer / Roofing Specialist - RJP (Russell Perring) Roofing

Hi guys - just a big recommendation from us for RJP roofing. We bought a new house in Upland Rd where they had had builders do a hatchet job on the roof. RJP quoted for the remedial work but made it clear that they would only charge for what they had to do once they pulled it back and found out what was underneath. Number is below:

Russell was very helpful and communicative throughout and seems to have done a great job and ended up coming in under the original quote which was much appreciated especially with all the new house costs we have been racking up.

He even helped me free up our chimney and got one of his guys to come back and install a chimney cowl for us at a later date free of charge.

Get in early - he keeps his team to a moderate size so that he can ensure the quality stays top notch so book him up with a bit of notice.

Can only echo this. Russell has now done a couple of jobs for our house on lordship lane and did a fantastic job both times around. On both occasions has done extra bits for nothing when it was not asked of him and this is much appreciated. His rates have always been competitive as well. He can be booked up a bit in advance but that seems like it is because he has a really good reputation on the forum - we took the view that if you trust someone from previous experience to produce good workmanship then we don't mind waiting a little longer.

ETA (9 December 2020) The bay roof I have now had to be rebuilt last year as part of insurance work due to subsidence, and as the insurers arranged it, it was not done by Russell.

Therefore (if anybody knows which my house is) please don't think the bay roof was done by him. I would rather it had been!

Russell Perring and team have just completed a superb job installing a Velux roof window which was pretty tricky to reach and involved some admirable contortions by the plasterer who finished the internal works to a really high standard. When i first met Russell he said he'd do it before Christmas, and so he did, despite the fact that the weather must have messed up his schedule several times. Very very happy, not just with the work but also the communication around it and the whole approach. Another very happy customer.

I can wholeheartedly recommend RJP Roofers. Russell and his team have repaired the pitched roof, replaced the above bay window roof, and built a new warm deck flat roof at my property.

I am very pleased with the quality and the manner in which the work was carried out. I was given a full written specification of the materials to be used (which other builders did not do in their quotes.) Communication and all the paperwork were done brilliantly, thanks to Sarah. Another one for Russell. He just did our front and back roofs. Having just done the side return extension last year with some difficult and uncommunicative builders who liked to try and charge extras where possible, was really good to work again with someone honest considerate and good at what they do.

I would also like to recommend Russell who came to give a quote within 48 hours, gave a really clear explanation of what repair work was required for our roof and squeezed us in in the build up to Christmas by getting his team in to do the job within the week. The team worked hard, got the job done quickly and showed me pictures of exactly what had been repaired. Thoroughly professional, trustworthy and very easy to work with.

Russell is great. He has done a few roofing jobs for me over the years and is very reliable and straightforward. I recently called him to check out a small leak into my loft room. Turns out it was a very quick fix and he didn't charge me anything for his trouble. There is no one else I would call for my roofing needs!

Another recommendation for Russell Perring and his team at RJP Roofing. He gave a very clear explanation of what work he needed to do and the materials he would use, so that there was never any doubt as to what the quote covered.

We got a quote to fix what can only be described as a catalogue of botch jobs by our predecessor's roofers, and by a couple of others we'd got in because we had water flowing down our walls at different points (and so went with those with quick availability... there's a reason for that).

We got a quote for repairs to party walls, replacing all flashing (including gullies), to put coping stones on, and to re-do the render which one of our previous roofers had messed up. We also had a velux fitted and the surround plastered.

I then spoke with Russell again for a quote on replacing the entire front roof, which obviously increased the price (but on economies of scale it wasn't too much of a shock). Russell said that he didn't think it needed replacing, but when I said to go ahead he said it was the right choice. When I asked about a couple of other things he would say not to worry as they had years left in them (even though they looked to me like they didn't). Short of which is Russell was not trying to squeeze more money out of me.

He and his team arrived every morning when they said they would, worked solidly for 8 hours and then tidied up every night before leaving (including the neighbours' gutters and front gardens). The work was completed in 4 days. The plasterer came in during the last afternoon and so there was no lag/delay. The day after finishing the work one of Russell's team came to the house to clean the attic.

It helps also that Russell and his team are very nice and pleasant, and even take their shoes off when coming into the house.

We have finally found a roofer who I can trust, and who has done a superb job.

Another recommendation for Russell, his work is excellent and he has helped us out with a number of tricky problems on our old roof taking time with each one to get it fixed properly where others have clearly bodged in the past. As with others experience he doesn't try to "up sell" his work and will only quote what he believes is necessary.

Another really strong recommendation for Russell and his team. Over the last ten years I'd had 3 small jobs done on the roof to try to solve areas of dampness. None lasted, so I bit the bullet and got some quotes. Russell spent longer than anyone else looking at the roof, diagnosed the problems and spotted other risks and potential issues others didn't mention. He took time to explain what he was seeing. Once work began he uncovered hidden botch job after botch job on the roof from years gone by. These were real problems (an unconnected extractor fan, previous attempts to cover holes, even to raise the height of parts of the roof unsafely) and not just 'add ons'. He could have hidden them from me and completed the job faster but he didn't. He fixed them. He takes pride in his work, and doing it properly, and his communication is great and reassuring - lots of photos updating me and FaceTime at work to show me problems that were unexpected. He took care cleaning up afterwards (reconnecting cables and aerials and cleaning gutters debris had fallen into). I can't recommend the quality of the service and the job highly enough. If you need a roofer, do get Russell in for a chat.

Just wanted to add another recommendation for Russell and his crew.

We just needed our gutters cleared- plants spotted growing out of the front and a longstanding problem in the back where water didn't drain properly from a gutter on our dormer flat roof - which I also thought was a blocked gutter problem and just needed clearing. We'd had our dormer done a while previously and then had another roofer come in and fix the problem (or so we thought..!)

Russell and his team were extremely efficient. He cleared out the front gutter and spotted a problem with the back gutter which was a bodge job from the previous roofer and came back later to fix it. All of the gutters are now clean and draining properly (ie. also fixed)! He was extremely efficient, clean and professional.... and while he was fixing the gutter he got a member of his team to clear ivy and honeysuckle roots off the front of our house plus do some weeding (I was surprised but extremely pleased :) )

Can't recommend him enough- honest reliable and a good bloke

Russell is just the best. He's done a couple of jobs for me now. Both times clearly showing me what was wrong and how it needed fixing. He will not try and rip you off like some others mentioned on this forum. This latest time he didn't even charge me as it was a small job- despite coming out on a busy weekend. I won't be calling anyone else the inevitable next time my roof has a problem!

Just wanted to add yet another recommendation for Russell and his team. They did a great job with our flat roof giving honest and useful advice on how to thoroughly resolve the problems we were facing, taking time to explain each stage.

This was a stark comparison to other tradesmen we had over to quote on the issue. The work itself was excellent, as was communication throughout the process. We have been left very happy with our new terrace area and would 100% use Russell again should the need arise!
