Pickle
I'm loving the Dolly Parton version of Stairway to Heaven... only listened to it because I was expecting a laugh, but it's actually really good! Jah Lush
Rod Stewart's version of Paul McCartney's Mine For Me and also his version of Bob Dylan's Only A Hobo. david_carnell
I liked the original of both of these tracks but they both had the same effect. Immensely popular and catchy to the point of irritation - then given a new lease of life thru a innovative cover version. Two slices of great pop. From last year: Ray LaMontagne - CrazyFrom the radio this morning: Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2631-between-the-covers/page/2/#findComment-83416 Share on other sites

Keef
I haven't listened to that Maics link, but is it definitely the manics? Biffy Clyro did an acoustic version of Umbrella which was on the Radio 1 Live Lounge volume 2, so it may be either that version, or the manics have just robbed someone else's joke which gives me another reason to dislike them (like I need another reason... They are Welsh you know!) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2631-between-the-covers/page/2/#findComment-83542 Share on other sites
HonaloochieB
Hurt by Johnny Cash is fantastic. On the other hand Lou Reed did a version of Sam & Dave's Soul Man for a film some years agothat was abysmal.Reviewing it in the NME Charles Shaar Murray simply wrote 'Everyone responsible for this record should be taken out and shot'.Harsh but fair I thought. Keef
Agree RE Hurt, although like when NIN do it live with just piano, that's the best version you'll hear. Search youtube for "nine inch nails hurt reading", and you'll get a fab version from last year's festival!
