?The Green should be retained for croquet/bowls or other lawn games. The Pavilion could be hired for suitable uses.

There is not a need any more ?fun entertainment?. There will be very few quiet areas left.

The Park cannot sustain an increase of footfall which more ?fun entertainment? will bring. The Sexby Garden and the Japanese Garden have already been damaged by use as playgrounds.

The Friends of Peckham Rye Park website www.peckhamryepark.org has more comments.?

Other large sectionS of the park are given over for recreational use by children, parents and younger people: football, other sports, adventure playground, large children?s playground and you?d begrudge one tiny area being set aside for those, probably older, who want something more sedate?

Your provocative use of language indicates you are trolling again but just in case you are really serious then think again.

Does this have to be a low budget option? If not, a lido would be perfect here. If yes, how about replacing the grass with sand and use it as a sandpit or a place to play boules/petanque? Much easier to maintain than the perfectly flat bowling green.

I suspect crazy golf is a preferred option because this an be outsourced to generate maximum income for the council for minimum outlay and effort.

Tennis courts, petanque courts, bowling greens etc don't generate much income and a third party operator isn't going to rent the space from the council in exchange for trying to turn a profit on them.

On that note the adventure playground should be offered to the company running "Go Ape" in Battersea Park.

Go Ape are very good at what they do and that might not be a bad idea.

Crazy golf could work but no-one is going to do that in the winter when it is cold and wet. So I think it could be a seasonal use and the equipment can be stored in winter. There are a wide range of lawn games that could be tried out at other times of the year. And there is also no reason why it couldn't be different things on different days either, attracting a variety of groups and clubs using the facility. So if a bowls team wanted to say use it on Tuesday afternoon, they could. Crazy golf could come out at the weekends etc.

Unfortunately there are no longer any bowling clubs who will take on the use of the site. The Friends of Peckham Rye Park (I am a committee member) have tried to find alternative uses for it, and are still trying. But a bowling green is expensive to maintain ( the grass needs special care). The park is a Heritage site, so whatever happens there needs to be appropriate for the status of the park. And Southwark want revenue from unused resources ( they say that area of the park costs more than ?5000 a year to maintain).

But the consultation is to seek views for what would be acceptable so please get involved!

I'm glad you have highlighted this! In Southwark this costs around ?5,000 a year in rates alone!

    • Hello, with the weather improving, I thought I would flag up the free access to leisure centres in southwark. 1. If you are experiencing poor mental and physical health and live in the borough, the GP exercise referral service allows up to three months of free use of leisure centers. There are three levels of support, and you can even refer yourself. read more for more info: Kickstart, Active Boost and Cardiactive - Everyone Health Southwark   2. If you don't have challenges with physical ands mental health, you can access the free swim and gym for a year. for more info: Free swim & gym eligibility requirements – Leisure Facilities in Southwark 3. Are you a blue badge holder? you can apply for the AD Permit, a virtual payment which allows disabled drivers to part on single and double yellow lines without the need of displaying a blue bae in the windscreen. there is also information for disabled residents to use the Low Traffic Neighborhood (LTNs) around the borough.  Exemptions for Blue Badge holders | Southwark Council Want more information? use the councils website: www.southwark.gov.uk
    • I am about to tomorrow. I only just realised after asking some neighbours today. Agreed that smaller households should of course pay less, like discounted council tax bills for those on benefits for example. However as our bills have gone up astronomically generally in the last few years, I do feel hardworking families are being penalised... also avid gardeners will be penalised in the summer when gardens are watered no doubt.
    • Hello Womanofdulwich, I had a meter installed in the summer of last year. Currently my bills have fallen massively. Can you remember which month your water meter was installed? Also I received two appointments, one from a group of staff in orange who decide if the property is suitable for the water meter, and then a second appointment for the meter to be installed, did you have the same thing? Are you saying as well that you was cold called regarding the water meter, or are you saying someone from Thames water turned up, at your door unannoyed?   Lastly (so sorry to through so much questions at you) how many bedrooms do you have and how many people live at the property?
