I wasnt focusing on the elderly or disabled: mostly the lazy. It annoys me how much "able" people dive for a seat for short train rides. The ability to stand is a gift.

I am not too old (yet), but when I badly injured my leg and could hardly walk, I agree that no-one gives a hoot about you. I was actually asked to get up by one lady on the odd occasion I got a seat, and happily got up as I assumed she may be pregnant. She felt so stupid when she saw my struggle to get to my feet when there were younger people sitting around me.

Gaaaahhh!! For the past 3 weeks I haven't had a single train on time. Is this normal or just an unlucky time of year? Every single day either FCC or SE services from Peckham Rye to Farringdon are delayed.

Anyway if you ever see an angry woman on the platform who cannot internalise the anger, it's me.. :-)

I've used it for 3 years as I work in Kentish town ...It's normally fine, but does get affected in winter, even when it hasn't been snowing, been delayed by 10-14 mins so far this week & some days last week. So have a back up plan. I now use the invaluable Uk train times App on my phone on the bus to the station, it follows the train on its route and I can see if its been cancelled or badly delayed, if it has I stay on the bus and go to the Elephant and get the tube.

PS If you get on the train after it's been delayed for more then 12-14 minutes, keep an ear out for announcements. If its too delayed, once it gets to St Pancras it will go fast to St Albans & Luton missing out all other stations. Had my earphones on once and missed the announcement & could only gaze in bewilderment as train sped through Kentish town all the way to St Albans.

    • https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/libraries-0/carnegie-library It's a nice little library and meeting place.  One of the Carnegie ones of course. Actually not so little, the actual building: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carnegie_libraries_in_Europe#/media/File:Carnegie_Library_Herne_Hill.JPG I get books from there sometimes, and have been to an occasional talk.  Last week there was a foursome quietly playing ?bridge/whist there mid-morning. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the Hub project itself.
    • Hi,  I’m wondering if anyone needs help with their dog during weekdays? I work part time as a nurse and so I’m free Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri each week.  I have young children and we usually go for a walk in the afternoons, around 1pm. I’d be happy for a child friendly dog to tag along with our stroll if they’re home alone during the day. The kids would love it and it’ll break up the day for your pooch. I’d charge £12. I live opposite Goodrich Road Primary school, so if anyone is close by and would like some help, let me know.    My contact number is 07599352340. Hayley
    • I bloody hate "grab". It used to mean "snatch" (not in its ruder sense) as in snatch and grab, and now it's just used all the time instead of "get" or "collect". eg "I'll come and grab them later" or "can I grab a cup of tea?" Also "Up for grabs" GRRRR
