Suzanne Cummings
I want to make a plug for my 3 1/2 year old daughter's nursery, Oak Tree Nursery. It is based in a couple of rooms at the United Reformed Church on Tell Grove (off Melbourne Grove and East Dulwich Grove). It's a bit scruffy but the manager Maria is fantastic and the other women who work there are all great - really warm and in their 30s or 40s so really sensible. They also offer half days (from 8 to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm) with a minimum of 2 half days a week, as well as full days and now (since September) they take babies too. The costs are ?25 for a half day and ?40 for a full day. I started my daughter there when I had my second daughter to give me some help whilst I was on maternity leave. The reason I chose it was because it does half days and becuase some of the Mums with children there had posted on the forum recommending it. So I figured, I should do the same in case it helps anyone else out - if there any Mums are looking for a great nursery, I would definitely recommend it. I plan on sending my second daughter there when she turns 2. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26107-oak-tree-nursery/ Share on other sites
savage
I second this recommendation. Both my boys went to Oaktree and we all loved it. The staff are so wonderful & caring and obviously love their job. I was so sad when each of them left and when I handed in my notice for my last child, Maria also had a little tear!Kate Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26107-oak-tree-nursery/#findComment-583719 Share on other sites
Mrs_P
I would also like yo recommend Oak Tree Nursery. My daughter enjoyed and loved her time at the nursery before leaving to start school. The staff were brilliant and as mentioned above, they are so warm towards all the children. They do a brilliant job and both my daughter and I were sad to leave :-(Mrs_P Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26107-oak-tree-nursery/#findComment-584022 Share on other sites
dibden
Has anyone got a child under 2 going there? We would love to here your thoughts on the newly opened baby roomthanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26107-oak-tree-nursery/#findComment-585173 Share on other sites
verds
No, but my daughter went to the nursery when she was 3 and it's lovely. We bumped into the ladies who run the baby room the other day- they were taking them round the park, and it looked like they were having a great time. One of them, Joan, used to work in the main nursery and she's amazing. mrsalachlan
Hi...picking up this thread again...we're thinking of sending our daughter there when she will be 8/9 months, so in the baby room. I know they've only been taking babies since September so has anyone had their baby there? If so, can you comment on how you've found it?thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26107-oak-tree-nursery/#findComment-614578 Share on other sites

MoysieC
OMG, that is so shocking. The nursery has not been the same since Sylvia took over. It seems totally chaotic and badly run. I have recently removed my child as I wasn't happy with things. Other parents I know had also raised concerns about finding the doors not shut propertly. I wouldn't recommend this nursery to anyone. It's changed so much since Maria left at Christmas :-( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26107-oak-tree-nursery/#findComment-745405 Share on other sites
Belle
This is really sad. I haven't been since my son left in 2012 but in those days it was a lovely nursery, and Maria was great. They were pretty stringent on the door thing too, in fact it extended to making sure the gate was always closed too. Very sorry to hear these reports.
