Brian Tee
There are notoces on a number of trees in the park that are being cut down, including one on the Forest Hill Road entrance opposite the boys school. I suppose the amount of water was affecting the tree. Peckhamgatecrasher
Hope it's not the walnut tree. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26100-peckham-park-elm-trees-cut-down/#findComment-583637 Share on other sites
Sue
Somebody was killed by a falling branch in Kew Gardens a week or so back.I wonder if somebody is playing extra safe and felling any tree which might cause similar problems? No idea if this is the case (a tree in the middle of a pond would presumably only potentially kill ducks!) Huggers
I think the pond referred to is the evolving dew pond where the little river peck has re-emerged as a watery ditch. so you can walk very close to it. The tree was there before the pond so maybe its being rotted by its immersion in water. nununoolio
A tree survey was carried out in the park a few weeks ago (before Kew) and 37 dead trees were identified and consequently felled. Renata Hamvas
Tree surveys are periodically carried out and dead/dying trees felled/cut back. Peckhamgatecrasher
I'm confused by the title. Do you mean next to "The Elms" or have elms been cut down? Didn't think there were any left to fell.
