My daughter is just about to enter the world of crawling...... just as my husband is going away and I have to pack up a 3 bed house on my own to move abroad - handy!!!! Anyway, I want to make sure I can 'close her off' safely, and was wondering what advice people have about room dividers mainly, but also stair gates. or are they actually the same thing? Excuse my ignorance on this one folks. Any help/advice greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of any I can buy very cheaply as I am only going to need them for about 4 weeks before we leave the country and will buy them new where we are going. Thanks everyone.

I'd advise one with no bar to step over if you can, especially if you are going to and fro carrying stuff. We have the Lindam one.

It might be worth considering a playpen if you don't want to screw anything into the walls? Even pressure fit gates will take paper off and/or scratch the walls we have found.

Also, my crawling baby still goes in the jumperoo or activity station when I need to keep him in one place.

Just some alternative ideas!

Thanks so much for your advice on this - all so helpful. Have thought of a playpen and jumper, but again don't really want to have to buy those here for the sake of 4 weeks when we'll be buying new ones when we get abroad! Trying to come up with some creative ideas around this, or see if I can borrow these items for a month! Thanks again

    • All the parents looking after their kids instead of skiving from their meaningless desk jobs might mean it's quieter on here. Still, at least it gives free rein to the bad-tempered, long-winded pensioners that begin their posts "having resided in Dulwich for a not inconsiderable number of decades, may I be so bold as to suggest..." 😉

    • We have been patients at Sternhall Lane for years. Our experience has generally been incredibly positive with speedy responses and very helpful staff. We are generally fortunate to get a same day appointment should we really need one either at Sternhall Lane or at Tessa Jowell and any necessary referalls have been swift.
    • @Alice if left might have been stolen/taken by someone (peed on by a dog or fox), also there are some little things attached of - I assume - sentimental value. I hope the owner can claim them. Will leave a note indeed with info how to retrieve them, though not with a private phone number in a public space 😅 Maybe a friend of a friend will come across this post on EDF.  @embob97 They do have a ring, sorry.
