Saffron
Before there was Botox: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19628418 Quote Maori women have always had facial tattoos. Despite missionary disgust, settler vilification, rude stares and comments from strangers, they have sustained the tradition. Why? Because it is a particular aesthetic. It defines and flatters the face, it draws attention to the eyes and lips, and a particularly skilled artist can correct flawed features and offer an illusion of beauty. dulwichgirl2
Talking of which am I right in thinking there has been an explosion in "body art" or tattoos in women? Everyone I met seems to have one, some very tasteful, others less so. Saffron
Ooh, interesting, hadn't noticed that! I only posted the Maori link on a coincidence, as I came across it while reading about something totally unrelated. I've always wanted a tattoo but never gotten around to it. civilservant
I suspect ED may be a little behind the curve in that regard.I used to want a tattoo myself but never got around to it - and didn't get any encouragement at home either. But soon enough I was glad I hadn't. Remember the bare midriff fad a couple of years back, when a large proportion of the female population went around displaying their muffin tops, often adorned by a tramp stamp inked in just above the whale tail? Even Sam Cam has a tattoo, for goodness sake! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25740-botox/page/2/#findComment-580865 Share on other sites
