BrandNewGuy
Sad news. This from the Evening Standard:Moxon's Next Door Only opened a couple of summers ago as an offshoot of the popular fishmongers ? quite literally next door, as the name says ? the small, fresh fish spot isn't coming back. "We won?t be reopening our little restaurant Next Door," Moxon's tweeted. "Many thanks to our customers, staff, and suppliers. We all created a gem we are massively proud of. Work will soon start to increase the size of the shop and incorporate a cafe and deli." https://www.standard.co.uk/go/london/restaurants/london-restaurants-bars-pubs-wont-reopen-lockdown-a4463091.html
KidKruger
Sad news. Seemed a real success and people apparently happy with the food. Unfortunately won't be the last to leave our high street, by a long stretch. :(
DK_87
That's a big shame. We ate there frequently and absolutely loved it!
geh
Whilst disappointed to see the restaurant go, let's not look at this as a bad news story, but as the successful expansion of an already popular retailer. It looks like they have reviewed the business model and are adapting the overall offer to suit the trading environment.Retail needs these positives and innovations, and I wish them nothing but success, along with all of our other independent traders. worldwiser
Just going to say, they're obviously seeing this as an alternative opportunity. The unit will still be in use and more people will benefit. There are way worse stories coming.
SpringTime
Just looking at the menu and seems to have been priced right - but then again I never went there! Was it good quality?
Abe_froeman
It was very good. I had some particularly good battered cod (cheeks I think) with curry sauce and chips there!
abingdon
It was both very good quality, and well priced. This was the restaurant I was most looking forward to revisiting. It's good that Moxons is remaining and I hope that the cafe deli succeeds but I will certainly regret the loss of Next Door. The only really good fish restaurant in the neighbourhood. Treehugger2
It was a lovely restaurant. high quality food, relaxed but buzzy atmosphere and really good prices. I am sure their next venture will be as good, although different and I wish them all the best.

Xanadustar
A real shame, it was one of the best restaurants on the Lane. The food was excellent and the staff just lovely.Anyone know if Maria?s Tapas is re-opening? I fear for its tiny space.
Abe_froeman
Maria's Tapas was already open on Saturday
Peckhamgatecrasher
@ abingdon: not solely (see what I did there) a fish restaurant, but Peckham Bazaar in Nunhead usually has good fish/seafood choices on their menu.
northernmonkey
It was great - but its a very small restaurant and i'd imagine social distancing could make it economically unviable. Their alternative offering sounds interesting anyway so its not all bad. Excited to see what they do next!
Abe_froeman
It would be amazing if they did takeaway fish and chips.
kford
I heard it's going to reopen as a lobster and oyster bar, knocked through from the fish shop. Hope so, although I loved the restaurant.

Penguin68
When opened it was very crowded - tables v. close together - thus could not have operated in the new era - I suspect that there was no way they could see of making money in a post Covid environment. Sad but a commentary on layout, not initial business plan. Shame to see it go but I see no way in which it could have operated now.

Sporthuntor
What a shame the food was fantastic and it had a nice ambiance. Good that they are not giving up on the space, good luck to them!
