Cables laid across LL monitoring traffic flow anyone?

cables measure number of vehicles and over a certain weight, not motorbikes.

These measure speed via induction across two cables at set distances apart. Speed = distance / time and all that interesting stuff.

Those grey boxes are traffic counters. They're not there to rob your children ;-)

The reason they have two cables is to differentiate between vehicles in slow moving traffic.

They're counting the traffic in order to assess the impact of increased pedestrian facilities on LL. They don't want to turn the adjacent residential streets into rat runs.

It's a good thing that someone cares!
