woodland
I think the caf? on the corner of the gardens was serving some sort of beer/booze last weekend - caf? G I know that the Great Exhibition is doing a 'pint thru' though that is not very near the park! The Herne isn't open which is at the top of the park... LoulaRose
I think The Herne is offering a takeaway beer menu (2 pints minimum) between 5pm and 8pm Thurs-Sat. fishbiscuits
If during the day, the Rye cafe and Cafe G (and sometimes The Herne) sell beer to takeaway. But TBH I don't understand why you wouldn't just go to Tesco. Clutterqueen
Pubs/Clubs should not be serving alcohol anywhere near the 4th July so this against all Government guidelines. Cyclemonkey
Not true pubs, bars and off licences have always been allowed to sell alcohol to takeaway. What is not allowed until July 4 is drinking it on the premises. Now i'll grant you in recent days I think some places have been pushing that a bit by allowing customers to congregate outside. Cyclemonkey
There is a huge difference. Like saying why pay chips from the chippie when you can buy oven chips and make the at home. Sephiroth
Plus there is the knowledge/feeling that having pubs survive might be a good thing, and that?s less likely to happen if we don?t spend any money there Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/255888-pubs-serving-beers/#findComment-1430386 Share on other sites
DulwichFox
The Pub is a Very British thing.. well it was... Pubs are closing down at a rate of one every 12 hours, new figures show. The Campaign for Real Ale say that 378 pubs shut down permanently between July and December last year in England, Scotland and Wales, representing more than 14 closures a week. 24 Feb 2019 Covid 19 really is the final nail in the coffin. Most people I have spoken to say they would not be happy to go to the Pub if they open on the 4th July. It is not going to be the same 'Social' night out we were once used to. People have got used to Supermarket prices of Beer, Wine and Spirits.Based on 3 pints per day at ?4.40 per pint. after 104 days of lock down I have potentially saved ?1372.80That does not account for the occasional Shot at ?4.00 + a time.I think it is very likely Pub Prices Could rise significantly. Food sales are likely to decline.Eating out in our favourite local Restaurants will be a Very different experience. Having to book in advance and not be able to make a snap decision when a few mates happen to fancy a Ruby..It's grim.. JohnL
Yes - Saving a few hundred a month - but jobs much less secure if you work so no big splurge in spending by those benefiting (although I see many have invested in things that keep exercise/leisure/work going at home) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/255888-pubs-serving-beers/#findComment-1430414 Share on other sites

Guiness/stout from a nitro tap is very different, too.Lager and craft keg beer - not so much. In fact I'd say canned craft beer can be better. Probably fresher, and definitely more consistent.Support the pubs, though. That would be a fine reason to get a takeaway beer.
