youngone
Does anybody know if the Manor Place rubbish dump in camberwell is still open and take regular rubbish? It's quite difficult to get this information from the Southwark website and when I have eventually found it, it mentions half way down the page that it is now closed. But there are also opening hours listed on the page so it's quite confusing. Also currently been on hold for 10 mins with Southwark council helpline so not very helpful :-(I need to take some old carpets/wallpaper etc.thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25480-rubbish-dump/ Share on other sites
BrandNewGuy
Those hours are for the Devon St depot - Manor Place has indeed closed. It's probably far more convenient to use Lambeth's facility at Vale Street, SE27. They now have an agreement that Southwark residents can use it... DulwichFox
The Devon St Facility is very good and Clean. does not involve climbing ladders as did the one at Manor Place. It is enclosed so also dry. Also takes cooking oil. If you go to the Lambeth one, expect long queues at the w/e. Very littered. I got a puncture their on one occasion. Fox. ed_pete
Vale Street in West Dulwich do indeed accept Southwark residents but it is recycling only. Best to check the Lambeth website for what they will take - it is quite wide ranging. It does get busy at weekends but I find that if you are prepared to get there early ie before 8am, then it's OK. Southwark's facility in Devon St will accept anything. I don't know how busy it gets as I've only been a couple of times and they were fairly early. Salsaboy
What do they need in the form of ID? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25480-rubbish-dump/#findComment-574895 Share on other sites
ed_pete
I've never been asked for ID, even when Vale St was meant to only be used by Lambeth residents. If you worried then take along your Council Tax bill or some other form of proof of address. Jeremy
As ed_pete says, Vale St is recycling only, not particularly useful for things like DIY rubbish. The Devon St depot is frickin awesome. Huggers
Devon street is really easy to use and the guys are very helpful with unloading. You can drive right up alongside the bit you want to dump stuff in. Easy peasy to get to by car.
