Carrie
I remember some time ago there was a thread with quite a few hotel recommndations for Istanbul but having searched I can only turn up one recommendation for the Empress Zoe which looks lovely but unfortunately is booked up for the time we want to go.Any other recommendations? steveo
Eresin. Pricey but nice. It's near the mosque and the palacehttp://www.eresin.com.tr Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25475-istanbul/#findComment-574716 Share on other sites
edcam
Last time we stayed at the Rast Hotel - very central and pretty reasonable. Istanbul isn't huge but you really should stay in this central area (Sultanahmet) so you can walk everywhere. antantant
Depends what you want to do - last time I was there I ventured over the bridge and stayed here:http://www.thehousehotel.com/the-house-hotel-galatasaray/and loved it. More modern / shopping / bars / clubby Istanbul than in Sultanahmet where your original choice was though. Easy to walk to all the obvious site - Blue Mosque, Agia Sophia, the Souk, etc.Recommended Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25475-istanbul/#findComment-574832 Share on other sites
Carrie
Eresin is also booked up for the weekend we want unfortunately. Really want to stay in Sultanahmet and wanted to stay somewhere reasonably small with an "old" feel to it - Rast hotel looks a bit hotely if you see what I mean, although the location and views look great- but maybe I shouldn't be picky as everywhere else seems to be booked! Thanks for the recommendations. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25475-istanbul/#findComment-574880 Share on other sites
womanofdulwich
we are going to Istanbul soon and have been recommended The Other Tour- pricey but apparently VERY good. Gerryw80
You could consider Sabnem Hotel or Alzar Hotel in Sultanahmet. They are much smaller and intimate:) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25475-istanbul/#findComment-574938 Share on other sites
Aladam888
We stayed at the Four Season's Hotel when we visited Istambul last year. I was completely satified with the hotel service and rooms. Do check out! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25475-istanbul/#findComment-574958 Share on other sites

Carrie
Yes - I did look at the four seasons and thought it looked lovely - more than I was hoping to pay but maybe we could push the boat out for a special treat .....then I realised the price was per night and not for the 5 nights that we were going for! Alex K
Forget Istanbul. Try Constantinople instead. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25475-istanbul/#findComment-575407 Share on other sites
