We've just had a little boy. I think we had three boys names we liked and about 20 girls names, here are a few off the list:

Sigrid

Greta (recently met a Margaret in the playground and thought that was quite cute!)

Clementine

Maple

Audrey

Elsa

Antonia

Martha

Flora

Alma

Matilda

Svea

Am secretly hoping we'll have another girl just so that I can use a few of the names on the list!

We're looking to add another middle name to Little Saff's name (long story). We won't bother ammending the birth cert, and you don't have to have a deed poll in the UK (as confirmed by the Southwark Register who said names can be leagally changed through usage in this country). Sooo, we're simply going to add the additional middle name when we apply for passports.

I want a girl's name to start with H or B. This will sit phonetically well with the rest of her name. It's no holds barred on style or origin. Unusual names welcome.

So far I have Beatrix (Latin), Berwyn (Celtic/Old English), and Halima (Swahili - DH spent time in Tanzania/Zanzibar)

Any more B's or H's anyone???

On H and B note, I like:

Hermione (yup Potter fan)

Hermia

Hero (mild Shakespeare theme emerging!)

Halina (variant of Halima, my friend called this is Polish)

Hettie

Belle (but depends on first name)

Bunty (don't think I'd use it but I find it really sweet)

Bonnie (ditto)

Funnily enough I don't think any H or B names feature on my lists!

I love, love, love Hero but MrBeaver said a firm no. I was a bit relieved though as Myleene Klass used it shortly before my daughter was born and then I'd have had to decide whether to look like I was copying her!

I also have an Edith and am interested to hear how many are out there. It's still pretty uncommon on a national level so there must be a local concentration.

Our other names (mostly nixed by the other half) were:

Laurie

Aurelia

Dorothea

Helena

Elsie

Clemency

Margaret

Claudia

Ooh, a second wind for this thread! Lovely! So for Saffron, here are some H and B middle name suggestions from my long list, as I reckon I now seriously owe the forum for all the suggestions above:

Bay

Blossom

Betty / Betsy / Betsie

Bonnie

Holland

Harper

Harmony

Honor / Honour

Harriet

Hattie

Honey

Yes, Edith wasn't in the recent top 100 girls names, although all the other names used by my NCT group were!

When introducing my Edith/Edie to someone locally they asked if I'd named her after E.D. ie. East Dulwich!!!!

For H and B names, I like:

Bella

Betty

Beatrice

Bonnie

Hattie

Harper (was one of our top names until VBeckham poached it!)

Holly

    • Hi, I would like to raise some awareness around East Dulwich especially on Lordship lane.  Today my bike electric bike was stolen from in front of my house between the hours of 9:00 and 10:45. If anyone see anything I would be very grateful.  Please do not use a chain lock to lock your bike. Preferably a d-lock. My bike was double locked with two chains and they still manage to take it. Be careful and be aware of Thief.  Here are some pictures of my bike. If you see or hear anything I would really appreciate it.
    • Brilliant, thank you all! sounds like we have a few nights out up our sleeves 🙂
    • Gawd another gaff pushing Botox and other such stuff..🙄
    • Yama Momo is excellent and I highly reccomed Sushi Garden on Dartmoth Road Forest hill (opposite Forest Hill Pools) The chef there worked in some top Sushi resturants in Central london previously, one of my neighbours reccomended it and I can honestly say its superb and very reaonable for great quality food.
