This is a link to a long article about the murder by Israeli police of Eyad Hallaq in Jerusalem. I don't understand why there is no out-cry about it. By the way the IDF train American police in "control" techniques.

In deed, and perhaps the agenda should be extended to American foreign policy as a whole, treatment of indigenous Americans, and screwing up the planet as a whole. Serious comments by the way. And there are many good people and organisations in the US and could be so much a force for good.

It's not about ALL racism. But it SHOULD be.

It's about the regime in western world.

BLM are disruptive, with a commitment to disrupt state structure that disproportionately harms black people, it's anti captitalist, antiauthoritarian.

It's not about all racism and it's not about all slavery.

Ok, shoot me now as clearly no one's allowed to say anything negative....

But some have suffered in the past more than others and we can't ignore history.

Some still are suffering more than others but you can't force equality and peace on the world through war (to some extent Blair tried that through liberal interventionism and I think it largely failed)

What you've said is actually positive J&B, not negative. It's about stating the truth.

We're now in a situation in which the history and culture are being compromised - statues down, film and TV materials being removed, will it be book burnings next? None of this will help black people... none of this will help anyone.

Be careful not is all as it seems sometimes - for instance Little Britain want a new series on Netflix and so are aiming to start with a clean slate.

We also got rid of TV like "mind your language" and "the black and white minsterals" years ago so it's nothing new (I guess people will deny that the first one even existed it was so dreadful but it did)

Statues also get removed to museums regularly as the public forgets them - it's just been done quietly before.

When the Place of Westminster is basically gutted in the next few years, I wonder what will become of the statues.

Parliaments own website admits many don't really fit there

"However, the commissioners won the day, and the original statues in the Palace's interior thus bore little relation to scale, style and floor-space of the building they were destined to decorate."

The Welsh and Scottish parliament buildings are pretty modern affairs and pictures of the new HoC seem similar. Anyway statues are a bit old fashioned when we can have large screens with changing images :)

Thanks Chick. Saw this and signed at the time. Was also surprised there wasn't more reaction. Truly shocking...

History and culture are not being compromised, they are being exposed. The ugly truth. That's why we all feel uncomfortable. So we should be.

This isn't about pulling down statues, book burnings, street name changes, that's all symbolic BUT respectful. Is anyone here actually proud of a statue of a slave trader? Or a street named after one? No wonder the BLM are pulling them down, they're angry. So would you be if you had spent hundreds of years being enslaved, beaten up, killed, treated like second class citizens because of your skin colour.

What it is about, is white people learning and checking their ingrained prejudices. This country was built on slavery and racism. Nothing to be proud about.

We have an opportunity to change the future, can't change the past, but we CAN acknowledge it rather than hiding behind our white privilege. It's up to all of us to make this happen.

Of course all lives matter, no one says they don't, but right now (and for hundreds of years) black people are suffering because of the colour of their skin.

Jeezuz UG, how do you think any of what you just posted is reasonable.

You know that the Palestinians? land has been literally forcibly removed, the areas assigned to them have been systematically eroded, and they are at the bottom end of an apartheid regime in a land they lived in for centuries.

But you?ll criticise how they fight back, like they?re out of order.

You are coming across as one sick f u c k.

Israel is receiving praise for one of the fastest covid vaccination roll-outs. But this is for citizens of Israel only, including settlers living on occupied Palestinian land and Palestinian residents of Jerusalem. Meanwhile nearly 5 million of Palestinians living under Israeli control in the West Bank and Gaza are being denied the vaccine. There could hardly be a clearer demonstration of how Israeli lives are valued above Palestinian ones by the authorities. End the discrimination. Read more here: http://amn.st/6183HVa73

Israeli security forces committed ?heinous killings? throughout 2020, shooting dead at least 27 Palestinians across occupied Palestinian territories and in Israel, according to Israeli rights group B?Tselem.

?Over the course of 2020, Israeli security forces killed 27 Palestinians, seven of them minors: one in the Gaza Strip, 23 in the West Bank [including East Jerusalem] and three inside Israel,? B?Tselem said on Monday.

Well is Hamas responsible for the procurement of vaccine for its people or not? Why are they not procuring vaccine?

Israel is vaccinating Palestinians that are in Israel and fall under the responsibility of Israel healthcare systems which are semi-private anyway, so it is just not true to argue that they are prejudicing Palestinians per se.

Israel?s army has demolished homes of nearly 80 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Eighteen tents that housed 11 families in the northern village of Khirbet Humsa were razed late on Tuesday.

A total of 74 people were displaced, more than half of which were minors, according to B?Tselem, an Israeli anti-occupation non-government organisation.

The bulldozers and diggers also demolished sheds used as livestock enclosures, portable toilets, water containers and solar panels, on top of confiscating vehicles and tractors belonging to some of the residents.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh called on the international community to intervene against Israeli troops? attempt to ?displace the citizens of Khirbet Humsa and tens of similar communities from their homes and lands?, pointing to the fact that Israel ?chose this evening to commit another crime? as the attention is focused on the United States presidential election.

Abdelghani Awada, left homeless by the operation, told the AFP news agency that the Israelis gave people ?10 minutes to evacuate our homes?.

?Then, they started bulldozing,? he said.

He said his family had lived in the area for generations and accused Israel of trying to ?empty the Jordan Valley of its Palestinian population?.

The late-night operation was unusual given that so many homes were targeted at the same time, according to B?Tselem.

?Clearly, the intention is to force residents off the land by creating a man-made humanitarian disaster. But residents have told us they have nowhere to go,? said on Twitter Sarit Michaeli, international advocacy officer for the B?Tselem, adding that this was the first demolition in seven years of an entire herder community.

The branch of Israel?s army responsible for civilian affairs in the West Bank, COGAT, said it destroyed structures that were ?built illegally in a firing zone (military training area) in the Jordan Valley?.

The Jordan Valley is home to approximately 60,000 Palestinians, according to the UN, but nearly 90 percent of the land is part of what is known as Area C, the three-fifths of the West Bank that is under complete Israeli control.

It includes closed military areas and about 50 agricultural settlements housing some 12,000 Israelis.

Palestinians are barred from those areas and from the lands they own. They are forbidden from digging wells or building any kind of infrastructure without hard-to-get military permits.

Anything built without a permit, from home extensions to tents, animal pens and irrigation networks, is at risk of demolition by the Israeli military [Jaafar Ashtiyeh/AFP]From 2009 to 2016, less than two percent of more-than-3,300 permit applications in Area C were successful, according to Peace Now, an Israeli anti-settlement group, citing official statistics.

Anything built without a permit, from home extensions to tents, animal pens and irrigation networks, is at risk of demolition by the Israeli military.

Almost 800 Palestinians, including 404 minors, have already lost their homes in 2020.

Throughout the entire previous year, 677 lost their homes, up from 387 in 2018 and 521 in 2017.
