dulwichgirl2
Is the hypothetical burglar threatening my children or my husband or "just" property? Jeremy
No... why would a burglar threaten your kids?(Unless your children were carrying table legs of course, which would obviously change things). Carter
Again, I'm assuming we are delving back into that film again, or else I've not got a clue.I really must get around to watching it.Or the forum might tip me over the edge and be responsible for me going on a rampage and you wouldn't want that on your collective consciousness now, would you? Lowlander
Tazer. I wouldn't want the blood over my nice carpets.I would, however, likely drag him or her outside afterwards and shoot them on the driveway Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25412-would-you-shoot-a-burglar/page/2/#findComment-574184 Share on other sites

Parkdrive
I would sit the poor confused dear down, ask him if he's lost his way and offer him a nice cup of tea. After which I'd send him on his way with a cheery wave and my best wishes. El Pibe
I'm bored of you all now.People who harp on about wanting to shoot intruders tend to be demented types hoping to get away with murder, whereas normal people, even staring death in the face in war tend to shoot to miss rather than kill your fellow man.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.L.A._Marshall#World_War_II_combat_historianSo which are you people, spineless bravado or psycopath? Jeremy
Of course, you're right. No normal person wants to kill another man. It's a bit of a silly topic. Why would you want to own a gun, anyway?! El Pibe
I have to admit to really enjoying clay pigeon shooting, but I'd never keep a gun in the house. Parkdrive
Outrageous!!! the couple that shot those poor misguided souls have been let off. What on earth is going on in this country? They should be clapped in irons and flogged to within an inch of their lives to instill tolerance into their useless souls. Carter
And there you go - beautiful compartmentilism. If you wish to own a gun = psychopath.Bugger the idea that you might be good at clay shooting and win the odd event. That you might enjoy shooting. And so that is why I "choose" to own a gun. Because I enjoy it, and happen to be fairly handy with it.It's kept in a wall, and floor drill mounted, hardended safe. Ammunition is kept in a seperate internal safe. The mechanics do not kill people. As said before, if someone invaded - I would, without question. Carter
In fact, there is a beatitful simplicity of law -: don't invade, don't get shot.Plus, I would suppose that none of you have the means anyway. I.E. - guns in the house. If we were an armed society such as the Swiss then this would be a better question.
