Thanks Sue

Pretty much as expected although the mad idea of people going out to stand in a queue and collect mail at the moment seems a recipe for spreading covid ..

I wonder how many hospital appointments / test results or other important letters are stuck in the sorting office?

Whilst the covid situation is understandable and sad, there needs to be alternative solutions to clear the backlog before we get a mountain of post and no hope of getting to the bottom of it.

Yes same here, delivered by courier in May and others later by Amazon.

I'm extremely surprised they are using Royal Mail, if that's true, given the other pressures on Royal Mail at the moment. Whose decision would that be?

My best friend works at the sorting office and regularly keeps my post to one side for me to pick up which is fortunate. I?ve seen so much unfair criticism of the guys there - sue! Please have some respect, and garages please don?t shout. The people there are doing as much as they can, and let?s remember a stamp only costs 27p, what do you have to complain about. You couldnt even by a tomato from Franklin?s for that

Eh? What decade have you travelled in from, PP?! Stamps are 66 or 85p these days. It?s ?1.29 to send a large letter! For those of us who don?t have our post kindly put to one side by our mates, we?d quite like it to arrive in a timeframe of days rather than weeks after it was sent.

I?ve collected mail from Highshore Road twice in the last couple of weeks; today?s included 3 Christmas cards posted 1st class in mid-December and a non-essential financial item. No subscription magazines or other expected items. Prioritising tracked mail, parcels, etc. over letter post is a questionable strategy, as banks, HMRC, hospitals, GP surgeries, etc. tend not to send these! Apparently Covid vaccination invitations are being sent out by letter, which will be of concern to anyone in the groups due to receive these in the next few weeks.

The counter staff are polite and helpful, but obviously fed up with hearing the same complaints days after day. I was told last week that there would be no delivery ?any time soon? and to keep coming to the sorting office. This is clearly not possible for everyone (especially with buses not serving Rye Lane) and potentially risky at present. I was also told today that management is putting a plan in place to resolve the problem, but I?m slightly sceptical....

Good thing everybody didn't do that. The posties were paid a pittance as it was, without people reusing stamps and thereby losing Royal Mail money.

The letter still had to be processed and delivered, even though it hadn't been paid for.

What would your best friend in the sorting office who is so helpful to you think about that, I wonder?

ETA: And I see you have only just joined, and posted twice.

Your style seems strangely familiar .... must be my imagination ..

Yawn....I didn?t realised you were a forum inspector and we have to qualify ourselves on your forum! I?m just on here as a friend told me about it the other day. The same day my other friend told me about the hard time they are getting at the post office because of all the ?entitled? yar-who?s from east dulwich. Anyone sparing a thought for those in Dawson heights or Peckham rye estates. No, just wondering if they?ve stocked up on expensive ice cream and avo

I think that is very unlikely..

Thousands of letters ? Your friend reads all the addresses and puts yor Mail to one side.

I dont think so.

Damn I wanted that name

"Forum Inspector Sue"

Does it pay well ? Lots of ice cream sundaes I hope 😂

Joking aside there does seem to be a lot of immature name calling on the forum lately, maybe we need age verification of posters and a compos mentis test when people sign up

Sadly I'll pass the age test but the rest is as assured as my posties flying car (I kid you not)

I agree with geh, the front line staff are brilliant, it just appears that the overall planning and execution plus the two sorting offices merged into one is the issue that's letting everyone in the SE22 and SE15 areas down.

Edited as used mantis not mentis.. a whole new meaning 😱

I don't think it's anything to do with age. Possibly immaturity. Possibly malice. Or both.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was funny 🙄

I can't see why the non-delivery of post, a paid for service, has anything to do with ice-cream or "avos". It may come as surprise to some people, bit not everything is a class issue. And as for entitlement, that's what we've paid for.

Thinks, why am I bothering to argue. Must be bored.
