Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but to the best of my knowledge the Peckham office is a delivery office only.

Outgoing mail goes to big mechanised offices, or used to. I can't imagine that's changed.

The incoming mail is just sorted into what used to be called walks, don't know if that term is still used.

As far as I know, all the SE postcodes are sorted at the Croydon Mail Centre. Peckham will collect the mail for dispatch to Croydon and then they send the mail back to Peckham for the postal workers to sort and deliver locally.

I don't know of all the other London mail centres, but West London mail is sorted at the Jubilee Mail Centre in Hounslow for example.

Yes, agreed - delivery and sorting are handled differently (although there is a second sort in delivery offices into walks for delivery).

Sicknesses and staff shortages mainly impact delivery - and that's our problem. There's been no evidence of posting problems locally that I know of.

I have just been down to Highshore Rd to complain to the manager, He, of course, wasn't in, so I left a letter for him

The polite woman on the desk went behind the scenes and found a large pile of post for us. We have had no post at all this week. This included my new bank card. NO POST FOR A WEEK JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS

We are in our 70s and don't feel it's right to have to walk to Peckham to get mail. As far as I understand the law, there is a legal contract to deliver post once the sender has bought a stamp and posted it. So locally they are acting illegally.

What can be done about it, I hear you all say

Well, goodness knows but I shall be contacting OFCOM and the Financial Regulatory Authority. And a fat lot of good that will do, I imagine

That's terrible.

In my new Super-heroine persona as "Disgusted of Dulwich", having knitted a cape and embroidered a bat symbol on my thermal vest, I've been firing off complaints in all directions. Ofcom,(polite) Royal mail (uninterested) Postal review panel (we shall see)

The royal mail complaints woman said she didn't think there was a legal contract to deliver mail, which surprised me.

Meanwhile if you are looking for a quick, low cost way to SEND parcels, I highly recommend DPD. You can print off the label and drop your parcel at Food & Wine (141 Lordship, opposite the cinema). Saved me standing in a 30 minute queue at the Post Office.

DPD will also collect parcels from your home.

So will Hermes. So will Royal Mail, surprisingly!

Probably other couriers as well.

I send out 20 parcels per day and have tried them all over a long time. My advice is use UPS and DPD only. AVOID HERMES LIKE THE PLAGUE. They are cheap but a lot of parcels go missing. Not a good experience.

You can better prices for UPS & DPD by buying through Parcel2Go. Same service, same drop off points but better prices.

Hi Pugwash. I dont know what part of Dulwich you are, but no post since

Monday and still no delivery today. Two vans parked at end of street just to deliver four parcels.

When ask along the street if they had had post and it was also a no. Wheatley,Pellatt,Rodwell seems to be some of the worst. I send 125 Christmas cards out a year and most send one back. So far ihave only 22 back, where are all the rest

two Hospital appointments not received, bank card week over due, pension papers sent to me two weeks ago still not received. Is it due to walking from sorting offices or transport to Dulwich, it would be nice to know

I contacted the manager at Highshore road telling him that 6 tracked parcels were missing and that I had not had post since Monday. He replied telling me that he had found a number of my parcels in the frame for my address to be delivered today. Nothing yet! According to him the delay is ?due to resourcing issues and traffic volumes we are alternate between walks working through clearance.?His words, not mine...

Well, garages2018, I don't like having to advise you to go to Highshore Rd (with identification) but it's what I had to do as mainly I was so worried about my new bank card.

A whole bundle of post, dated back to Dec.4th.

Van in the street for some time with the driver on his phone.

I can only suggest we all make as much fuss as we can to OFCOM, Royal Mail, the manager at Highshore Rd, Helen Hayes, anyone you can think of, basically

3 Christmas cards last Monday, Its a disgrace When we people pay for a service and don't get it.

Sent 10 earing aid battery's to brother in Kent Thursday 10th and has still not arrived and this was posted in

Lordship lane with 3 first class stamps so it would get it in two days. it has been 10 days and still not arrived

    • No, signs of sense and scrutiny of "leaders" not knowing the impact of what they have done, so much so that every citizen in the UK will suffer financially as a result of an incompetent, incoherent, unhinged Govt that's impact is effecting every citizen in the UK. Where things were being turned around by the last lot, this lot has already compromised all that work in its first 120 days in power. You may not like it but that's the truth.  We are never going to agree and actually Reeves, Rayner and Starmer need to go, like yesterday.

    • This is why you are not the chancellor! Rachel Reeves won't be going anywhere until either she fixes things or Starmer needs someone to blame!
    • I fully agree. I hope you had some khinkali (Georgian dumplings), they're fantastic! They used to have only meat ones but now they also have mushroom ones and they're great. I always try to fit in a honey cake at dessert. Overall I appreciate that their food and menu seems to only improve with time.
