"Your parcel from Covid 19 Home Testing Programme is due to be delivered:

Today, Sunday, 19 December 2021* by 7:30pm"

and then

"Sorry, we were unable to deliver your parcel from Covid 19 Home Testing Programme today, Sunday, 19 December 2021. We

will attempt to deliver it on the next working day.

We're sorry for the inconvenience."

I so don't envy the poor buggers trying to deliver stuff .

TBH I don't care too much about late deliveries of cards and parcels - happy to have them brighten up the post Xmas period .

Sad for younger ones not getting stuff on the 24/25th though .And sad for us both if the volume of backlogged stuff results in things getting lost .

4 small packages despatched to me in November arrived this morning. This is good except that for 2 of them I have had either a replacement or a refund, which is going to take some unravelling now. I am still waiting for 2 items also despatched in November. Plus awaiting a lot of letter post (unless, as another message says, I suddenly have no friends who want to send me Christmas cards!)
East Dulwich (SE22) was today identified as one of the DO hotspots for poor delivery by the Royal Mail - of course the ED DO is now in Peckham. This is the first time I've seen it in the acknowledged lists of poor delivery performance. My postie is still delivering, but I know I'm missing one weekly journal which hitherto has been delivered at least by Monday (should be the previous Friday).

Also haven't had any post in over two weeks, was supposed to have gotten letters, Christmas cards and christmas presents but I guess I won't see that till afterwards.

My mum questioned a royal post deliverer what's going on and they said something like, don't expect anything till next year or something.

I understand being overloaded, but why couldn't they get temp people to help out?

I've only managed to get any post by popping down to the Peckham Delivery office a couple of times and asking if they'd check for me. They are apparently understaffed with a lot of people off with Covid. The focus seems to be on parcel and Covid test kit deliveries.
Same here - no deliveries to my address in SE22 8UQ for nearly 2 weeks now. I've e-mailed our MP, Helen Hayes, who's written to Royal Mail to demand an explanation and a timeline for resumption of normal service. It's not just the disappointment of no Christmas post, it's the anxiety that one may be missing important time-limited official documents. When I asked if I could go in person to collect my post from the sorting office, I was met with no answer...

Hi all,

I'm really sorry to hear about all the issues that everyone is experiencing with Royal Mail. I've had issues myself and I'm getting lots of emails about it too. In the past, I've managed to get the Royal Mail to sort out their services after complaints to those in senior positions but it seems to only work for a short while. This is not a sustainable solution.

As you know, this has been a big problem since the Royal Mail was privatised and the new private owners decided to sell off the company's assets, including our SE22 sorting office on Sylvester Road.

It's clear now that this experiment has been a total failure.

For what it's worth, this is not the fault of the local posties, who are working incredibly hard despite the difficult context and who share the same frustrations as local residents.

I hope to get back to you with more updates in the new year.

Helen Hayes MP is also doing a lot of work on this in her role too.

Best wishes

James

Thanks James.

last year was a complete c..-up and I had hopes they'd learned something. But since this year is just as bad, I can only assume that they have no regard whatsoever for their customers. Only their shareholders. ( and I hope they don't get any post)

Even at my age it's disappointing not to get any cards (3 so far) but people have missed appointments, lost important legal documents (with the attendant risk of identity fraud) It's absolutely disgusting.

I've complained to anyone and everyone and what good has it done?. Not even replies. usually.

    • Agree with @Sue the Dog is awful-nice building awful food. We like The Rossendale and Watsons
    • There are so many variables. Good chefs can having bad nights, post-Brexit staff shortages, your dish might be brilliant, your friend might order something that's inedible. In the end I think the best option is just to go to the restaurant which has the best overall reviews. If all the reviews are bad then avoid, but even if all the reviews are good that's not a cast iron gaurantee.
    • The trouble is that pub management and chefs are constantly changing, so what might be fantastic on one occasion  becomes terrible a short time later, and vice versa. Two of the worst pub lunches I've had locally were at the Dog in the village and the Plough, but both those were some time ago. We had an absolutely appalling Christmas lunch on Christmas Day at The Cherry Tree, which was also exorbitantly expensive, so unless their chef (I use the term loosely) has changed, I wouldn't advise eating there. The menu looked amazing. We thought we would treat ourselves. Never again 😭
    • If you've seen the original longer post then you'll know that you've taken that out of context. I don't charge but didn't feel I even needed to say that – you've made it sound like I do charge and that's why I deleted this part of the post saying I don't charge. When I read back what I'd written it sounded like I was defending myself against criticisms that hadn't even been made so i cut it out. And now you've made that kind of criticism anyway I should've left it in.  What do you mean "not charging people to read your reviews of their local restaurants."?  You make it sound like i'm sneaking into SE22 from somewhere else. I live here - they are reviews of my local restaurants!
